It’s a much nicer place than Pattaya, the beach is clean, quieter, but plenty of action if you look..
And like Blackpool, there are donkey rides on the beach (well small horse actually).
The first time that I went to Hua Hin, I was backpacking around Thailand with a Soi Cowboy dancer (hard to believe in today's materialistic Thailand but easy back then in the mid 80's). We had just had a month on Big Buddha Beach on Koh Samui and was slowly making our way back to Bangkok.
There was only a couple of funky Chinese hotels on the main road in town at that time. Nothing on the beach except the ramshackle colonial style Railway Hotel (which is now the five star Sofitel). So we stayed at one of the Chinese hotels and was put in one of their 'deluxe' 100 baht rooms. There were strategically placed peepholes in the wall which my girlfriend immediately filled with tissue. When we got back to the room after dinner that evening, there been no tv, as usual we began making our own entertainment, during which I heard someone enter the next room. I suspected it was the owners teenage son and whispered as such to my companion.
She was a naughty girl at best of times but she became even naughtier when she realised she was been watched. She began giving me the wildest ride she had ever given. Before long there was the sound of a lot of coughing coming from behind the wall and I suspected that he was probably enjoying the best wank of his young life.
Of course we found has that the tissue had been removed from several of the peepholes when we checked the next morning.
