Interesting to read everyone's tactics. I unfortunately lack the necessary time (and, to be fair, the funding!) to systematically see everyone I'd like to, so may adopt some of your tips along with my existing plan. I rate quality of punt over quantity so like to take the time to plan thoroughly.
I rarely book at short notice, liking to plan a week or so in advance. By avoiding impulse-punts, I find I save cash and don't run the risk of putting all my eggs in a disappointing basket. I plan ahead for where I'll be, work or social life determining where I'll find myself. I have a carefully compiled Hot List (done by region), and try to pick a particular experience: anal, GFE, plus-sized, big fake tits etc... (I try not to have too many in one area who are too similar). Which experience I choose depends on my mood at the time.
Sometimes, though, I find myself planning according to the WG's schedule. This happens occasionally when I find someone I'd really like to see, often well outside the area I'm based. In this instance, I've found myself booking - literally - months in advance, or at least putting out feelers to try and find a window we can both do. This way, I can also take the time to plan the time and travel arrangements, and can make sure I've discussed what it is I'd like to do during the meet.
I've managed to avoid any disasters so far (one truly underwhelming punt aside - my one regretful foray into giving in to an impulse), so this seems to work for me!
