Author Topic: iOS Facebook App Warning  (Read 544 times)

I've just noticed something new in the iOS Facebook app which you might want to be aware of. I was posting on UKP, on my iPad, and copied an AW profile to paste into a post.

Logged out of UKP and fired up the Facebook app, which logs into my own personal account. At the top of the FB news feed is a new pre built post, ready for me to publish, saying "What's on your mind? Add recent link to post" with the AW profile link filled in!

I hit cancel, but catch the wrong button and I would have been advertising escorts to my nearest and dearest, my mates and some work colleagues  :scare:

Fucking Facebook adding service improvements.

Always remember to copy a benign link (Google, BBC News or similar) once you've pasted an AW link on here. Otherwise you have a live one in the chamber.  :dash:

If you do get caught out, I'd suggest claiming your account has been hacked, delete the post and make a big thing publically on Facebook about having to change your password and how sorry you were if the hacking scumbags caused your friends any distress or offence.

I noticed it a couple of weeks ago and mentioned it on here too.  I've since deleted the facebook app.  If I'm in private browsing mode, in theory no app should be able to monitor what I'm doing in the browser.  By the way, it's not just monitoring your clipboard but browsing history, even when the app is supposedly closed.

Maybe they'd just "like" it?

Thanks Mr theGOAT. My Buttons picture makes finding my posts in threads really easy, it stands out as it wizzes past with a finger flick on my iPad.

There is a thread on UKE about someone thinking their mate is a fellow punter. I guess a slip up like this might bring some out of the woodwork..... :drinks:

That's it then, I'm going back to paper and pencil. All this IT jiggery pokery gives me THE FEAR... :diablo:
