Wiltshire Police said in any one week up to 40 foreign sex workers were advertising their services in the town, the majority of whom were "transient".

The women use rented properties for between one day and a few weeks before packing up and moving on.

Many of the pop-up brothels are linked to organised crime gangs, with women being trafficked from Poland and Romania.

The issue of pop-up brothels moving into residential streets will be investigated as part of BBC Inside Out West at 19:30 GMT on Monday 6 February, and available afterwards on BBC iPlayer.

That will be Sky Channel 966, for those interested.

Pop up lol.

I still think its a bit like climate change, where its easy just to say its entirely a man made issue. Its easy to say all the girls are being trafficked, but i dont think all of them are.

If all the girls are trafficked by criminals, then the fact that they openly advertise and the police do nothing about it, that makes the police unfit for purpose.

What the police are saying publicly is nothing new to seasoned punters who will know pop up brothels have been going on around the country for years. I'd question whether a town like Swindon can sustain the claimed 170 to 190 sex workers - that one sex worker for every 1100 to 1230 of the population.

Police intelligence has identified the regularly used locations, so begs the question why no raids?  Lack of resource, or is the story a coded message to say we are on to you, and we will hit you soon?

Two girls working out of the same property counts as a brothel in the eyes of the law. No idea how they can tell the difference between trafficked girls or "legit" indies?
It's the Sergeis they need to be getting and they won't be at the premises. They don't need to raid the premises just follow the money trail of whoever is paying to rent them.
I did think that news article was bollocks - same shit is happening all over the country.

It wouldn't be difficult for police to monitor it.

Using Adultwork they can check for new profiles in the area.

If they are suspicious of any they could then make a booking, they don't need to go through with it they can go as far as getting the post code, then on the day send the " I'm outside" message so the girl gives the exact address.

Then most probably a couple of WPC's go in and have a chat.  If the girls local and are working on their own they'll most probably leave them to it.

Well thats how I'd do it anyway ;)

Sure that would be classed as entrapment

Misread title of the thread - thought wow, brothels in Wilts allow 30 pops per punt! Seemed really punter friendly, even tho am only strictly a one pop wonder in my advanced years. Surely the service has to be good in them?

Then read the article which seems a bit sus, tbh. How do you the cops know the nearly 200 women they are "monitoring" are actually wgs? Have they sent in 'under-rubber' officers in to confirm? Can you volunteer to 'assist the police with their enquiries' - i can even bring my own rubbers.
And c.200 around Swindon - gotta be the rom capital of the UK then. If the police are acting as semi-official wg bodyguards - doesn't that make them sort of pimps? Wilts police could go the whole hog and set up their own local version of AW - crb certified wgs, assured safety for punters.

No, I think you watch to much American crime dramas

in UK criminal law, for a person to fall foul of entrapment, a law enforcement agent would have induced a person to commit an offence that otherwise they would have had no intention to commit.  :hi:

I blame Airbnb, maybe it should be Airbnbb.

There has been. I can think of 3 in the last 12 months without batting an eyelid. Pasteur Drive, Croft Road and Brunel Crescent

bbc promoting a show.  Disguised as news. Bleh
reporters making things up. Disguised as news. Double bleh.

I hope the police are stopping real trafficking , and not worrying about a few Polish escorts barely breaking the law

All the immigrant girls popping up around Oxford recently are using Viva Street. Only one or two are on AW. The TV prog also showed Viva Street as one of the websites being used.

How do you traffic someone from Poland or Romania, given that nationals of those countries have unrestricted entry to the UK?  Some poor-quality reporting here.

You give them a one-way plane or bus ticket and tell them that if they don't turn up at the appointed place their father/mother/brother will get the shit kicked out of them. Or you lend them money and tell them they have to work to repay it. Or you get them hooked on drugs. Or you entice them with fake jobs. Or you entrap them with fake relationships, bogus boyfriends. Plenty of methods

British girls were "Trafficked" by those low life Pakistani rape gangs in Rotherham and other colonised towns and cities of this country.

Trafficking has quite a broad meaning and can even be local or international.

Are hotels regarded as "pop up brothels"? More than one wg working there at the same time or is it just flats & houses they count as brothels.
