Author Topic: A Rising Issue  (Read 2881 times)

It has come to my attention that recently some WG's have started to implement an early deposit system, it may be along the lines of "first time client will require a deposit of £20 etc" and over the past couple of months I have seen this practice being listed more and more on Adultwork.
Now first of all I would like to state that I would never do this and nor should you (obviously) but we must discuss the issue because unfortunately it has the potential to become a new business tactic employed by escorts and scammers alike. I would like to know your thoughts and to warn any newbies on here that the golden rule is cash upfront, always. If someone asks for a security deposit or a bank transfer I would back away immediately. Even if you have fucked that WG 100 times in the past without a deposit, the second she does walk away.
We already have to combat fake profiles, dumb as shit pimps and girls with bad business practices and I can not be arsed with a new thing to look out far. I imagine we are the largest punting community in the UK so if we don't do this then this aforementioned practice dies. If we tolerate it then this has the potential to become a real issue.

I haven't noticed an increase in WGs asking for deposits on the A/W profiles I read but punting is a pay the WG in person on the day pastime and always has been in my 32 years doing it.

Under no circumstances would I pay any WG a deposit.

Like smiths I can't say I've noticed many profiles stating that fact let alone an increase in them doing so.
However if I they did ever ask then they would be quickly added to my go fuck yourself list, quite simple really  :unknown:

Cross-posting this as it's relevant:

I'm going to call BS on Danalou. For two reasons ...

First, the pics are a little too good.

Second, she's either ridiculously naive or it's a scam.

I wanted to book her for an overnight - this was her (only) response:

Quote from: Danalou
Hey yer that would be fine but a deposit would be needed hun xx

Oh dear ...

Never paid a deposit in over thirty years punting and never intend to. Anyone who demands one can fuck right off.     They'd probably be a bad punt anyway.

I'm all for giving a prossie a deposit if she asks for it ........

...... a big wad of my home made man fat at least once sometimes twice!

Can't say I've noticed it and if I did then it would be a quick click on the back button. Immediate thought would be scam.
Cash on delivery for me.

Don't see it as an issue. They just go into the 98.5% of profiles I ignore anyway.

Not something I've noticed in my various aw searches. But perhaps this is something specific to a region or perhaps a connected group of girls? I guess it's their choice if they feel the need to implement a security deposit system. But I suspect the gains they make from the system will be outweighed by the losses.

I was asked for a deposit by a pornstar when she toured Manchester. I quickly lost interest. I dont need to put down a deposit to guarantee I'll turn up, as every WG I've seen can confirm.

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was about erectile dysfunction...
Anyway. As far as I am concerned, asking for a deposit is just impudence.

Offline cueball

Not a cat in hells chance I'd pay any prossie a deposit, whether it was a regular or newbie. It's cash on the day or no go

Offline Punting Valley

Unlike other businesses, there is no T&C or other legal means to protect us punters from being scammed. It is not like I can take a scammer WG to court for not sleeping with me after I paid her deposit.  :unknown:

Upfront deposits for prostitutes, eh?

That's a new one - I'd always known it by the technical name - 'advance fee fraud'

Advance deposits? Compensation fees for missed bookings?

And I thought I was delusional.

Offline madeinwales56

I haven't noticed this apparent trend but if a prossie asked me for a deposit the only thing she can expect is a face full of Welsh spunk.

My first punt, was with a chosen lady who ticked the boxe's I needed.  I was new to AW and didn't have any feedback, so she didn't know me from Adam.

I was in for an incall to hers, so she asked for a small deposit via paypal, it wasn't on her profile , but she suggested it in a PM.

To make the payment to her paypal account, of course this disclosed her real name, but I guess as I was going to hers anyhow, perhaps it didn't matter.

Long story short, I made the payment, paid the balance in cash when I arrived, and had a great time. And have been back several times since, she is my primary regular!

Personally , I wouldn't get to hung up about it, but it does rather depend upon the WG, this one is truly professional in all ways, I guess I wouldn't be so keen if she were an EE!

When a WG decides to be a WG she will know she wont know the punters who book her, that's punting, an anonymous pastime for those that are smart in my view. What you do is up to you but paying deposits to WGs is a REALLY bad idea in my opinion. You got lucky and good for you, doesn't mean its a good idea though.

I think the OPs point is that if real WGs do it and we accept it, then scammers will come along next.

Like any request for small quantities of money by scammers, if they ask enough people then some will fall for it, it's a numbers game and we have no recourse against fraud.

Simple rule, NEVER PAY A DEPOSIT. There are always more WGs to try

To answer the question, it was a 20% deposit. I can see your points  relating to this, but I was a newby, and  maybe if she took my booking and I was a no show, she may have given up another poetical punter, so I could see why she wanted one.
But equally I can see your points, and if she had of taken me to the cleaners, I wasn't going to go around and demand my cash now was I ! so thats  your point, and I can see it, but I am just saying that sometimes needs must.

What is a "poetical punter"? One who composes sonnets to the lady while paying her deposit?
Personally, I have found poetry is wasted on most sex workers.

You're lucky first time round, please don't justify it on a punting forum, there were a lot of scammers who will seek to take advantage of unsuspecting punters.  :hi:

Agree 100%. Don't even think of paying a deposit- ever. It will all end in tears one day. Remember: she's after your custom; not the other way round.

Offline Jeff_withpetersen

I've never heard of this - but agree with the consistent response of other posters that anyone asking for this should be refused. We don't want to see horseshit like this creeping in.

I would never in a million years pay a deposit to a WG prior to a booking!!!! Seeing this mentioned on a profile would make me suspicious of her intentions!!!!!!
