Sorry KT, but that is an incredibly poorly worded sentence. I like obscure topics on punting so I will bite. Consumerism - It's a problem in the West, that has now spread to the middle east, what is Abu Dhabi, but a shopping centre with leisure facilities?
I think the huge push for women becoming WGs was the TV series and books based on Belle du Jour, making it appear glamorous. What changed is tawdry documentaries making it appear sleazy. Most indie prossies I have met are council estate scrubbers - sad, but true. The younger parlour girls are often using things like Laboutin shoes and Hermes handbags as a child or relationship substitute; however there are many with their heads screwed on who are sensible with their spending and genuinely not driven by narcissism.
