The point of noting that a child is/was in the house is that it is relevant information to punters. That is the primary purpose of this forum. If a person feels it is their business to stick their oar in with social services, that's not the business of UKP, especially when not all the data is available or first hand.
The point of reporting posts, as far as I have gathered, is to help Admin combat trolls and people working against the ethos of the site. I am more than happy to accept Admin's judgment at any time should he ever want to ban me.
ps as Nik has pointed out, plenty of people report posts inappropriately. A large number of those who do so out themselves as not supporting the ethos of the site and end up getting banned themselves. I have complete faith in the judgment of Admin, his dedication to fairness and lack of bias and, above all, putting punters first, and as a human being -- something you will not find on many, if any, other sites. I've never met him personally but have formed that opinion over many years, since he first became 'Admin.'
I don't feel at all heartless to the situation the woman and her child find themselves in but if you want to discuss morals or even the ethos of UKPunting then the place for it would probably be off-topic. Belly-aching on her behalf in 'Reviews' does not add anything.
