Author Topic: Black Friday is on November 27. Wgs taking part?  (Read 2648 times)

So black Friday is just around the corner. That date in the calendar where retailers decide to get rid of their old stock with massive discounts. Some 50% to 70% discount on thousands of items can be expected.
Although wgs don't need to take part in the Black Friday sales event it has got me wondering that some wgs might consider to partake.

Anyone knows any wgs in the UK who is taking part on the Black Friday sales event?

Another unwanted Americanism along the lines of Trick or Treat and all that bullshit. Fucking hate it.

I'm with waterhouse. Let's have guy fawkes specials, 10 punts of Christmas and new year sales. Totally fed up of Americanism in our traditions.

I'm sure they'll be delighted to take part of what you saved on that electric lawnmower...

I agree with you but, since I'm a happy Amazon consumer, I can't really bitch with conviction. For many UK retailers it's the biggest sales day of the year and, with all the pressures they have, e.g. the high street dying accelerated by COVID, I don't blame them for trying maximise their sales.

I don't ever recollect seeing a WG with a Black Friday promo, perhaps the odd Xmas discount. Tontober was fun while it lasted.

Offline Mr_Shins

I like Black Friday sales because they typically discount everything, not just a few selected items which often turn out not to be what you wanted to buy.

This year because of lockdown I don't know whether they'll do it, have it online only or make it a different week, but obviously they want to avoid a mad rush on the shops on particular days.

+1.

One of the few benefits of being in Tier 3 was the complete absence of the little beggars - literally! - trying on the 'Trick or treat' scam. Bah, humbug!

Btw, although I've been saving up 4 x Tadalafil for every month since Lockdown 1 began, I don't know if I'll have the stamina for the 10 punts of Christmas!

Why only 10, btw, RobT22? What about the 12 lords a-leaping and the 11 ladies dancing?! ;) :D :D :D

Not everything.  If you look at Amazon historically, mostly it’s the shit they can’t usually shift, i.e. unknown or cheap/budget brands, certainly in the tech/electricals anyway.

I will check though as I’m after a pair of either Sony WH-1000XM4 or Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700.  I doubt either will be in the BF or CM deals though.

Something like only black prostitutes should be able to work on Black Friday?

Her skin is black, her name is black, but thank fuck it’s Friday!  :manhater:

Friday of colour?

There’s a big furore just now over an award winning journalist resigning for saying gender is physical thing not a feeling. She got death threats from trans extremists. They believe your gender is determined by what you feel.

Eminem once called himself ‘black’ i think. But he never pushed the point.
Apparently the vice-president elect is black. Looking at her I would never have noticed if she hadn’t made such a point of it.  :unknown:

I totally agree with you but I am not going to turn down something because it is at discounted price due to the Black Friday discount event. I would much rather the retailer to have a discount weekend on British traditional calendar dates like guyfalks night or St Georges day (England) and the other saints days for Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
That would be better but at the same time I would take part in any discounted product if I wanted that product.

Can’t argue with the logic there.  Problem I have have is that if I want or need something, then I typically don’t have the inclination or patience to wait for something like BF or CM.

I agree. Even our news are so Americanised in that we seem to care so much on USA politics and USA current affairs stories. I would hardly think Americans care the same way as we seem to do.
But I would not say not to a black Friday bargain in the shops.

OK. Me on the other hand I would quite happily wait for anything up to 4 weeks in advance to get a great deal

Unfortunately I missed out on tontober.
I hate shoopping on the likes of amazon. Although they are convenient I try not to shop on that site as much as I can. I do try my best to support local and independent small businesses if I can. If I can't for whatever reason I then try bigger retailers. I will only use online retailers as a last resort and amazon will be the last place I go to to buy products.  :hi:

I refuse to be political correct.  :hi:
I remember there was a time years ago where it was racist to describe a black board as a "black board" but you were allowed to call a white board a "white board".
Times moved on since then and the modern day language on what is considerd the right or wrong language and phrases is much worst.

Friday of colour?

It's very baffling to me that we can't use the word "coloured" people when referring to black people. I agree the term coloured people is wrong. But you allowed to say "people of colour" to me they mean the same thing.
Both phrases I disagree with but one of them are allowed.  :unknown:

This

Depending on how bespoke the item I’m after is, the first port of call is JL, then local, then eBay, then Amazon is usually last/at the bottom of the goto list.

Stuff that I've seen advertised as discounted on previous amazon black fridays has been on the site discounted anyway.

There’s a lot of insensitivity and misunderstanding when wrong words are used. I know a number of LGBTQ+ people and they can be the worst with him/her/they/it or whatever. They are quick to jump on innocent misuse of words.

Plus words used in some countries are unacceptable in others. For example in some US states they still use handicapped rather than disability or even impaired mobility, but use it here and a ton of bricks can land on you.

And what do some of us still refer to the corner shop as....?

Actually in terms of hard work, cultural ethnicity has a lot to do with it. When mentioning to friends the corner ... shop I use the nationality in full and always add well-deserved compliments. Some of our British lot could learn a thing or two.

Offline Londonpunter30

Agree it’s an Americanism we don’t need, but also the British date format is Day / Month.  Seems the British are a nation that can’t speak their own language at times.

As stated above it’s mainly an excuse to shift old stock, or get you into a shop / website to also sell you something at full price.  Can’t see how an escort can use the same hook to make more money

They dampened it down for the last couple of years anyway as to begin with we had the same scenes that you see in America with a scrum of 200 people climbing and crawling over each others backs to try and get their hands on some out of date discounted shit

Personally i've never been tempted to join in, when you see the twats on TV fighting for a discounted electric can opener that will sit at the back of the cupboard unused in just looks degrading  :hi:

I believe the term Black Friday derives from the point in the year that many retailers have covered all of their costs / overheads so go from being in debt or "In the red" to making a profit or "In the black".

At this point they decide to hold a sale to sell off all the left over crap they can't sell so they at least get their money back on it, added bonus if you can get free advertising on prime time TV news channels to further increase the hype for next year  :diablo:

So I looked at an online retailer for some items I wanted.  The only sale items, were old stock that had already been on a discount since the summer anyway.

As I stated above it’s used to get you onto a site or into a shop to get you buying.  Can’t see how that model would work with an SP

Ah no. I'm saying if any are going to take part as many of us would jump at the opportunity for a 50%,60% or 70% discount rates for any sexual services that wgs may apply.

Although I would be quite happy with 10% or 20% off.
I did think maybe wgs may do discount deals to encourage punters to spend on their services as I can imagine business is properly slow for most wgs at the moment.

Most hookers think short-term and therefore would never encourage or give discounts on a sale day let alone any other.

If we are going to ask them to give us discounts on a Black Friday then we might as well ask them for refunds for faulty goods? :D

These people that do this have no self respect and no dignity that they want to fight over discounted goods.
For me, nothing that a retailer would sell would encourage me to fight over other customers for a particular product.
