That’s a good point. I’ve just been put on the waiting list for an operation. God knows how long that will be, plus recovery time. May be some time before I can punt.

I've only been on this site about three years so I can't  join in the nostalgic trip down memory lane about how good the board was.

Like everything else there comes a time that it needs to move on, if the new owners want to make changes it's their board so it will be interesting to see how it develops.

As in other walks of life there's bound to be old farts who don't like change  but for some of them their punting days are over anyway.

Like many people when I was young I never could conceive of being old, just as I could never believe there would come a time when I would stop punting. If I did I always thought I would be in control, make a definite date and go out with a bang. In the event it just kind of crept up on me.

You probably won't believe me, as I wouldn't have believed anyone telling me the same thirty years ago, but it will happen to you one day. That is guaranteed.
Furthermore this site wouldn't exist without certain 'old farts.'

Quite ironic really that young people routinely and callously dismiss older people as a waste of space when it is their destiny to grow old too.

Think we may be getting through a lot of popcorn in the next few months once the new team have got to grips with the Tech issues, i'm waiting for a raft of high profile bannings once patience runs out 

Smiths makes a good point about people who take breaks and I agree given some members contribution in numerous reviews and good help / info over the years it would be good if their overall history was factored in not just the last few months or year

It seems to have eased recently  but a couple of years ago some of the older members seem to treat the board as if it were their own "Old boys club" and were often unhelpful and in some case hostile to new members.
I know the board is about exchanging information and it is annoying when some members constantly ask questions without giving anything in return  but if it's a new punter just tipping his toe in the water there's no need for smart arse unhelpful replies, everyone has to start somewhere.

Do you mean James999? Admin had plenty of chances to ban him in the more than 8years that he's been a member. He didn't, that must say something. If it were a popularity contest I expect he'd be gone ages ago. Fortunately for UKP (in my opinion) it is not. The strong survive.

Just remember not to type the word "ρrοssie" as only one or two people are allowed to do that with getting it changed to Sex Worker.

Well he gets away with not doing so and I'd almost wish I did the same. I have to correct myself about his helper status. It's still active and he doesn't appear to be running mental all over the place. I don't recommend aping him -- a few have done it and come unstuck. The ££ one is basically substituting a £ for a $ which in turn is used to substitute an s and with the ££ it's still censored to say sex worker, not sure about the comment "even with spaces" as when you type the "P" word with spaces between all letters in preview it shows it as it's been typed.

What I still don't really get is why the initial outrage about the word being censored (which one of the Admins has explained he just doesn't like the word) but moreover why people continue bringing it up and trying to bend the rules like teenage children 

Apart from this word i'm not aware of any other restrictions having been applied so perhaps people should be thankful that it's largely business as usual

A year ago I was recovering from a heart operation. Trust me, when it's a struggle to even get out of bed in the morning, sex just doesn't occur to you. It would have been a total waste to have had nurses all looking like Kelly Brook fussing over me. It took six weeks until I was allowed to drive again and three months for my breastbone to heal (having been cut in half to give access to the heart). Fortunately I've made a complete recovery and have successfully resumed punting.

Depends if part of the forums mission statement is acting as a pre-school for punters , idk but id suspect not specifically , while im sure most punters dont mind helping and advising others the reality is that starting punting is not difficult , essentially if you want to do it you can , there is no difficulty, its easy , many forum members started punting when the internet didnt exist , there was no-one to ask , so alot of the questions can come across as tedious lazy bullshit from people who are to lazy to search for information already posted.

I`m afraid that in my 5 years membership I have contributed but 1 review, and have received offensive comments from a couple of other members about this, to the extent of being informed on several occasions by one Scottish gentleman(?) that I have no business here.

Unfortunately, my age and present health make it extremely doubtful whether I shall ever again be able to provide a Review, but membership of this Forum does nevertheless provide as good a reason as any for hanging on to life a little bit longer, and I would be very sorry to lose it for being considered a "non Reviewer" or a "Lurker".

Perhaps Admin could consider Justice with Mercy when he deals with us elderly gents.

There was an exodus of some notable "old stagers" before OT was closed down - their departure was discussed in OT well before the closure of it. I can't think of many "old stagers" who only stopped posting after OT went - I am sure there are some, just can't think who they are.

OT was closed down as OldAdmin was clearly tired of the hassle it brought him. But I think as the handover that followed soon afterwards showed, that was just a microcosm of the hassle he was feeling from managing the site as a whole. If we had had multiple Admins back then perhaps OT would not have been closed.

mh does have a point. However the removal of OT has lessened the workload for admin considerably. Posting traffic must have dropped considerably. It was clearly getting him down so he pulled the plug on it. I dont blame him either. If we as a forum cant act like adults all moving the same way and agreeing to disagree with others without rancor then we only have ourselves to blame.
There were some very useful topics that are off limits as its now strictly about punting- in many ways that is as it should be, after all it is a punting site, its why I'm here. Some of these topics were spin offs from punting. Like relationships, use of porn, health issues and not just STDs, other mens health issues eg depression, work issues etc.
I think Admin has a way to go sorting the site out before any consideration is made to extending topic critera - perhaps in time he may, I suspect he won't. And who can blame him.

As a result the site is a lot more friendly. But I do miss some of the posts from other regulars who I respected and I now rarely see.
