Well I disagree that it is better off without OT, nobody was forced to view it - in fact over time new members were not given access at all. But OldAdmin made the decision and it was his site.
As you say OT did encourage member interaction - not all topics were angry/political. There's only so much that questions about girls/reviews of girls can do to encourage member interaction and it seems most punters don't say much in the "main" (non-regional) board.
mh does have a point. However the removal of OT has lessened the workload for admin considerably. Posting traffic must have dropped considerably. It was clearly getting him down so he pulled the plug on it. I dont blame him either. If we as a forum cant act like adults all moving the same way and agreeing to disagree with others without rancor then we only have ourselves to blame.
There were some very useful topics that are off limits as its now strictly about punting- in many ways that is as it should be, after all it is a punting site, its why I'm here. Some of these topics were spin offs from punting. Like relationships, use of porn, health issues and not just STDs, other mens health issues eg depression, work issues etc.
I think Admin has a way to go sorting the site out before any consideration is made to extending topic critera - perhaps in time he may, I suspect he won't. And who can blame him.
As a result the site is a lot more friendly. But I do miss some of the posts from other regulars who I respected and I now rarely see.
