Safer than cash? How?

Unless she thought she was going to be robbed, but even then unless the vouchers were made out to her real name or Amazon account (not sure if they are since I've never used or gifted them) they could still be stolen.

Sounds a bit odd to me. :unknown:

Unless it was a very trusted regular with whom you could do a bank transfer, then it really ought to be cash all the way.

Offline Aj6658

agreed very odd

Potentially she wants it for money laundering purposes.

Punts for me are normally paid in £20 or £50 notes which are now, since the release of the new £10 and £1 coin are the most commonly forged notes in the UK. Unless the girl has the ability to check notes then Amazon vouchers do make sense as they're just a code that can be easily added to your amazon account for verification. Once this has been done the code cannot be re-used.

We're increasingly becoming a cashless society, I suspect this situation will become more frequent.

I have noticed recently a couple of NW SP's offering card payments.

I wonder how that'd show up on your bank statement?

That's a very good point, I hadn't considered that despite the fact years ago a friend of mine who owned a video rental store (remember those ) in Surrey was passed a dozen or so counterfeit £20s by a 'tribe' of pikeys who had taken over a local field near the village.

Wonder when the Treasury will be updating the £20 notes?

Quick Google, for punters who prefer crypto:

...and doubtless others (incl independent SPs) who see an advantage in accepting crypto payments.

I was going to say cryptocurrency as well. Seems safe and efficient
And then it can be converted to cash by the recipient hassle free.
Also not to forget the advantage of privacy for the payer who will simply transfer crypto from his cryptowallet to the recipient's crypto wallet. I would rather do this way actually eventually

I'm no expert but cryptocurrency transfers don't seem to be instantaneous and the value as "real money" can change quite quickly.

Won’t giving Amazon gift cards potentially identify you to the WG?

Also, how will she know that you haven’t already claimed the credit for your own account?

Very puzzling.

They can be bought for cash from shops and supermarkets, putting the codes from the back of the card into an online account will reveal whether they are valid or have been already used. Takes just a minute or two to check using smartphone or a PC.

£50 notes?

Really?

Offline Doc Holliday

I thought that unusual also. Rarely see £50 notes in general circulation. Many smaller retailers will not accept them? Few cash machines dispense them.

Perhaps he's a money launderer or drug dealer?  :D

Some punters/clients do use £50 notes, not many, but they do - are they drug dealers and money launderers? :)

scammer - I would imagine it is Amazon Vouchers up front even though she's saying you can hand them to her in person. Besides, she's a barebacker so hardly worth bothering with?

I'd hazard a guess she means Body to Body and not bareback since she was mentioning massage.  :unknown:

Maybe, but doesn't inspire confidence if she can't get her head round the terminology.

Maybe she's had bad experience of being robbed or being passed forged cash. Redeem the vouchers and it's "banked"

Ermmm .... it was just a light hearted comment based on stereotypes and one which interestingly the treasury doesn't agree with External Link/Members Only

PS what's the difference between a punter and a client?

+1 B2B ... although of course massage is usually bareback also ... unless the SP is extremely paranoid  :D

I use punter for someone who books perhaps once or twice, client someone who's booked more than that.

Also open to interpretation by the bearer.

Amazon vouchers as payment sounds fishy. Can only guess that she's either:

A - Stupid
B - Going to ask for the code before the meet so she can 'verify' it
C - Take the voucher face to face, not perform but can't refund the voucher once it's been 'verified' (activated)

I had a girl ask for some weird payment system once. Can't remember what it was but she wanted me to send her the code as proof that I had it ready. She said that I can cancel it if I change my mind but reading about the system suggests that this was bullshit. Did not see her obviously

A lot of car boot sale and antique dealers use £50 notes. I have a few, and went to the BOE website to check their validity. Everything checked out, fortunately.

They are being retained, being replaced with polymer versions: External Link/Members Only

The current ones seem to be very hard to forge correctly, with all the security features mentioned on the website above.

Ages ago. I used to buy bankrupt stock and resell it on.
Sorted out a price on a pair of jeans and a quilt that she saw ( with a reasonable mark up on the cost price ) which went as part payment for the punt.
So it was a cheap punt.

Last year I used a cash machine at a bank near Liverpool Street to get £300. It gave it me all in £50 notes. Never seen it before. I must have looked aghast as an assistant asked me what was wrong!! She just told me to take them to the counter and they would change them. A few WG adverts I see say no £50 notes.

I cannot recall the time before this one I daw a £50 note.

No chance of paying with a Scottish £100 note

Cash is best as not too traceable. I always carry a few hundred around in £50s in case I get the urge to do a wench when I have an hour or two spare.  £20s would take up too much room and besides I find showing you’ve got a few hundred more on you encourages her to give it her best in case you might extend session or encourage you to become a regular.
Banned reason: With an attitude like his he's certainly undesirable.

an Amazon account is easy to hide from the taxman.......use it for buying stuff and the money avoids her bank account, so goes untaxed

showing you have spare cash is more likely to resort in basics becoming chargeable extras, or of her pimp sandbagging you as you leave

When I have a bit of luck at the casino it's always paid out in crisp £50's. Often enough at the bookies or race courses too.

Even though it has become easier to have card reading devices there are still plenty of independent tradesmen out there that haven't quite caught up with technology, so carrying 50's to pay them is often easier than having a bulging wallet. As long as they give me a proper receipt, how they handle their arrangements with the tax man is none of my business.

Just a couple of examples of £50 notes being circulated with no drug dealing involved.

Also, those store bought gift vouchers (Amazon or any of them really) have a scratch panel for the authentication code. If it's already scratched off I doubt any WG would accept it.

Offline Corus Boy

Too many forged notes out there.

The tightening up of the money laundering laws are making it difficult to handle larger sums of cash.

Same with paypal, it can take seconds to be in her account or a couple of days, and you can reverse the payment, so only girls that trust you would only accept it.
