Author Topic: Hotels Without Keycards  (Read 1630 times)

Morning all - as per title, what’s the best hotel in Birmingham that doesn’t require a keycard to reach the lift/room?

Was looking at the Rotunda but that’s a keyfob.

Looking at hotel or apart-hotel.

Any help appreciated!

Hi Mate

Have a look at the Ibis Birmingham on Irving St.

As above, you can access the rooms from the car park so don't even have to go through reception either

That’s a good option cheers boys.

Is there anywhere a bit more upmarket? Thinking the Hilton or similar?

The first place that springs to mind for me is the big 4 star one on Broad Street that had the initials J I.*

I was going through town the other day and it looks like it’s had a name change. Initials are now L R.* Go on booking.com or other hotel websites and my clues should be a give away

*(I’m not sure what the actual rules are about posting the full hotel name so apologies if I sound like a moron just saying the initials).

Crowne plaza is more upmarket like you require and doesn’t require any fob or key to reach the room. Just walk past reception to the elevator and Proceed to your floor.

Only problem I ever found when I visited “carmenkissesx”who worked from there was the P&D parking. Machine never worked properly so you’d have to mess around with the app in order to pay to avoid a ticket.

Quite a nice hotel room if I’m honest.

Hopefully this helps.

If you can travel around the West Midlands, you could try either the Copthorne Merry Hill or the Voco St John's Solihull.

I’m sure there’s nothing against the rules in these terms where you are simply recommending a hotel to a punter.

I think it’s just against the rules if you were writing a review of a SP and you post the full name of the hotel she’s at as I think it’s a safety concern for the SP.

Visited a lady direct from the car park at the Ibis a while back. Seem to remember the room surprised me as to how nice it was. As she was my top girl of all time I may have been blinded to it's faults.

Holiday Inn/Express are good options for easy access

Offline AllenTheMan

Thanks all - might look at the Holiday Inn as can book a suite.

Many thanks for Joball as well for the PM with some inside knowledge   ;)

To share with others then the HGI or CP are good options however HGI doesn't have massive rooms - if you're planning on bringing a few guests a suite is nice. Mal has some nice ones and at relatively good rates sometimes - but you need key card. Tbh a family room at premierinn isn't a nightmare option either, but again a card needed. Actually the card thing isn't really an issue anywhere IMO, just nice sometimes to have the knock on your room door vs dragging out to collect.

It's best not to list the hotels as some hotels have been known to Google themselves.  They then discover they have escorts and punters using their premises and change things to make their premises less escort and punter friendly.

I do believe you have to give your reg plate in at reception, if you're trying to dodge reception that might make it difficult.
I could be wrong though.

There are free car parks within a 3 minute walk though.

Offline Steve1961

That is true. I usually use Uber so not a problem usually.

The Holiday Inn Express in Birmingham city centre requires key card access for the lifts.

A new find for hotels is Bloc in the JQ area of brum. Easy to find and park at.

The access is very easy. Remote check in means you can check in without ever going to the reception desk. The online access tools allows you to call the lift without needing the key card and that link/email can be shared giving access to the room and lifts including room controls like lights and tv etc. Or if it’s a wg coming to meet you instead of giving them access just call the lift yourself (from The room) and give the wg the floor number and room number and greet them at the door.

Best part is the hotel does day rates which are much cheaper then booking a overnight so perfect if it’s a daytime liaison

Thanks Ali

Happy to help

Also for the OP the hotel also has basic rooms and apartment style rooms with separate bedroom/lounge area with small kitchete and microwave etc.

Also a possible security concern alleviated if it’s a WG situation and that is the bathroom door is glass and see through so the wgs can riffle through your pockets while u pop for a piss or if your a perv you can watch them in the bathroom too  :D
