Author Topic: AW login - no Turing test  (Read 3511 times)

Just logged onto AW with just user name and password no annoying 4 letter Turing test - Hooray !

Offline Blackpool Rock

Yeah I just had that too, thought there was a problem and i'd be rejected but I also see there is a banner in the top right which has been there a few days about issues with payments so suspect AW are just having technical issues and expect the Turing code to be back soon  :unknown:

Online timsussex

Banner was there a few days ago

Does this test really defeat a determined computer programmer ?

It's a simple test to determine if you are a human or a bot. I don't think AI has yet evolved to read an on screen question and input the answer, but who knows?

Offline mrwhite

Wait till the bots find out.... are we going to have another of those epic DDOS that happened before the test was introduced.

Perhaps because I'm stupid or 300 years old or computer illiterate I constantly find my attempts to log onto AW thwarted/

Online signy

The four-letter test seems to have been replaced by a Captcha sustem (run by Google). Every few logins (but not all) you will get a test to tick visual boxes that include some feature (mostly to do with motoring: cars, bikes, traffic lights, etc.).

Same as used by national newspapers, amongst others.

I find it oddly amusing that a computer is asking us to prove that we're  not a computer.

Isn't it just.  I find the pictures sometimes quite difficult to discern the nature of the detail required. That may the whole point of that system but, frankly, the letters many of us have to deal with for years have themselves become a bit easier.

AW don't want Computers booking escorts? Seems discriminatory to me

I used chatgpt to book a punt this morning.
English, in her 20s, £100ph, no extras, gfe, incall within 15 miles, available today.

Pause.

26 options appeared. All under 78,000 miles taxed and insured, rental by the hour/day/weekend.

Changed the word escort to sex worker. Resubmitted.
Pause.
"Fuck off King Tarzan, you're banned".

Be grateful it's not one of those that ask to identify traffic lights, trains, aeroplanes, cars, fire hydrants, stairs, mountains, cows, etc.

On a small screen you've got little chance of getting it right, and zooming in just blurs the images.

Probably why when I tried to log in today I could not as the captcha didn't load and I got an error about an incorrect session. Time to upgrade my browser.

Online adenmc4

Seems to be back to Captcha again now

Had Captcha earlier, but it's back to the 4 letter turing test again now.

Online adenmc4

I meant back to Turing letters again doh

Offline ZeroCount

I had the image captcha once, then no test at all for a while, now it seems to be random whether it's the 4-letter thing or nothing. It's certainly a relief not to have to mess around with it every time, particularly since they've chosen to implement such a rapid timeout for logins.

Offline webpunter

A few times it was password only, took me a few times to realise no code
Had google picture mullarkey today
Took about 3 goes coz pedestrian crossings to be ticked & on my selections computer says no
Recently i also had the email verification bollox, cheeky f*****s

Offline webpunter

Just had a pop up tab come up on google, with username & p/w boxes for completing
Which doesnt work
So had to cancel & do the usual login, no letters in the box needed

Offline globewindsailor

Looks like the turning test is a goner which means I can't log in now. I'll need to use another browser for AW. Annoying.

I noticed I couldn’t get in either, despite putting in correct username & password. I tend to access the desktop site on my smartphone so tried using the mobile site and the Turing test was still there and I managed to get in. From there I could then switch back to the ‘main site’ and it kept me logged in

Trying to work out now if I can access the mobile site on a desktop lol. I googled the error message about session credentials and there are lots of threads here on the message saying clear your cookies etc and it will work. It didn't.

Worked it out. Go to External Link/Members Only
Login they go in the same tab to the normal site.

Has anyone else had a small popup window asking for username & password? I got it once but now its back to the usual.

I've had it a couple of times, but you can ignore it and still get access.

Yes but only when using a link to a WGs profile, like one that would be in a review on this site... that's the only time I've seen it happen so far

On recent visits the AW letter captcha has been missing. Brilliant, I think.

Today they want me to click on pictures with cars, fucking hell they are going backwards.

But I worry this is a precursor to age verification - knowing how these APIs work, perhaps they have had to integrate with a service that has images as the non-age check version which will later become a credit card check ...
 :(

Yeah, that message freaked me out for a minute. They normally don't resort to full page messages on login like that, just a little note on the title bar normally does the trick, so I thought for a moment there was a problem with my account or something.
