Perhaps we should have a whip round to raise the £100,000 to save him from going to prison.

I didn't know they offered BDSM too!  :D

After being sentenced, he thanked the judge for "being so fair" but wondered why police had targeted him when brothels are commonplace in Bath.

"There are loads of places in Bath and Bristol doing exactly the same as I was doing, which the police are aware of," he said. "I don't know why they went for me."

Is there any truth in what he says, that he was targeted unfairly when others were doing the same thing and a blind eye is turned??

Was it his public boast that he had friends in the Police protecting him that was his undoing?

What motivates the Police to target some establishments and not others?

Is there any rhyme or reason to it all?

Does POCA come into it?

More likely failure to offer back handers and freebies to the right people and his unwise boasting about his "mates"

Having said that doesn't sound like he was doing anybody any harm, complete waste of police and court time and tax payers money.

He got his punishment, he gets to hand back £100,000 or he goes to jail.

£30 from every booking doesn't sound too extravagant if he was doing the girls' admin, paperwork and supplying their work premises?

I think this is just a heartwarming story about a lovely old codger helping down-at-heel girls!  ;)  :D

£100 grand over 20 months works out to be a wage of £60 grand per year.  Not a bad wedge for the lovely old codger.

Also works out as 3333 shags, I hope he is allowed to offset the cost of a few new beds.

You must be on a phone every time i click the link belgrave place is the red pin !

Belgrave Pl, Bristol, City of Bristol BS8 3DD

And for Bath

Belgrave Place, Bath, Bath and North East Somerset BA1 5JL

OK, this makes more sense - Belgrave (with an "R") Place in Bath and the same street name in Bristol. The journo did not mention Bath/Bristol and used a street name -Belgave: without an "R" - that does not exist in either place! Like I said, heavy lunchtime session before writing up the report...

One year custodial sentence suspended for 24 months, plus POCA confiscation order of £100,000.

"The man who ran a brothel at a house in Bath was spared jail thanks to glowing character references from prostitutes.

David Malcolm Lord was ordered to pay £100,000 after admitting to keeping and managing the brothel at his Victorian home in Belgrave Place.

The sum is equivalent to the amount police estimated he made from his "escort agency" Bath Babes over 20 months.

Lord will go to prison if he does not pay the full amount within three months, and was also handed a one-year prison sentence suspended for 24 months.

Good character references, including from prostitutes, were part of the reason the 71-year-old did not receive an immediate custodial sentence.

Bristol Crown Court heard that the once-famous music producer acted as "webmaster" for four prostitutes working from his Victorian home.

He booked their jobs, answered client emails and provided condoms and a phone.

Lord took a £30 cut from fees charged by the call girls: £130 per hour for sex and £180 for threesomes.

James Tucker, defending, described Lord as: "An older gentleman of an avuncular nature proving a safe haven."

Prosecutor James Ward acknowledged that Bath Babes was unique because: "There was no violence or coercion to the girls."

Sentencing Lord on Friday, October 9, Judge Geoffrey Mercer QC told him he had good character references from a "wide range of people who speak with one voice very highly of you".

Lord, who set up Bath's first commercial recording studio, has worked with a string of famous artists including Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Tears for Fears, The Stranglers and The Pretenders.

After being sentenced, he thanked the judge for "being so fair" but wondered why police had targeted him when brothels are commonplace in Bath.

"There are loads of places in Bath and Bristol doing exactly the same as I was doing, which the police are aware of," he said. "I don't know why they went for me."

Lord was caught by police in a sting operation in which undercover officers paid cash to prostitutes at his home.

Specific directions to 3 Belgave Place were given on the Bath Babes website because clients often turned up at the wrong address, 3 Belgrave Place, instead.

Lord had previously denied five other charges related to organising prostitution.

All seven charges covered a period of 20 months from January 2012."

Thanks for the link. So he was presumably only running Bath Babes for those 20 months as it was operating a lot longer than that of course.
