Seeking advise for a Thai visit end of Jan

I absolutely loved it, getting the nod from other farang sitting in the bars as you paraded with some young hottie that wouldn’t normally give you the time of day, I felt like a king (however temporary ).

    I understand that and can see there are a few places it could work in your favour e.g Nana Plaza     but not when you go and see the Temple of the Emerald Buddha  For sure there are times and locales where you would get a buzz from it but definitely many a place where the opposite is true ! Would not want to be seen dead with one in any of the BKK sky bars !

Lol, I had a bar girl take me to a temple. But then she dressed very "appropriately" on the day 

She took on a completely serious persona for a few hours - and I don't think it was just for appearances. Seems she didn't want to offend any variety of possible divinity. The Thais seem to be big time suckers for religion and superstition, they've smuggled in all kinds of world bullshit - from tarot cards, to hindu animal god statues. She took me to Tarot reader after the temple and was petrified when a death card showed up

Got taken to a similar place in Singapore about 10 years ago . Was equally impressive for sexy looking S.Ps but was also a very high % of Ladyboys  on closer inspection . My experiences are more of Soi Cowboy but many of those lovely sights in Nana are going to be Katoyes !!!

If the original OP is out and about in Thailand end of January, and it is his first time, I arrive BKK 2nd Feb for 6 weeks don't mind meeting up and having a beer. I've been going over 20 years now and thing of moving over there full time.

I'll be in the Pattaya area, might have trip up North for a few days having a nosey.

hi ron im looking to go enfd of jan / early feb so could be up for this, can i ask, where do you fly from and fly to? Ive been looking at Manc to BKK , plan might be to stay in Pattaya first for 4/5 days then end with Bangkok 2/3 nights, do you know on the connection in Dubai, do you think 2 hours is enough time to go to next gate, as ive not been im not sure if i would need to go through security again at the connecting airport?

I have been to Bangkok  from London via Dubai on Emirates- 2 hours between connecting flights is fine! I assume you mean on the same airline into Dubai and out of Dubai to BKK? Checked in baggage is handled automatically by Emirates - you don’t have to do anything yourself except walk from the plane and follow signs for “connecting flights” - you do go through another security check and scanner but it’s quick! Then look up your gate number and walk there!
If you have different airlines into and out of Dubai, it will be a little different I would suspect! No experience of that myself!
Pattaya is a 2 hour taxi ride from Bangkok- about 1500 baht from the airport! But don’t use the airport taxis - pre book one!

I didn’t check a bag, you only need pants, shorts and t-shirts, there are 100’s of 1 day turnaround laundries (40-60 baht) as well.

I’m flying from Birmingham with Turkish, I’ve flown before with Emirates, 2 hours should be ok providing your take off is on time. If you are late they know you’re one the plane and will meet you and other passengers and take you through security and to your gate. I’m in Pattaya on the 2nd Feb late afternoon hopefully about 6pm,if you are about and fancy a beer I’ll pm my line to you (is that allowed?)

The Amethyst is highly rated and in the middle of the action. I’m staying there for a week in March.

Not stayed there but heard its ok, Sleep with me, LK President, Amber, Adelphi, Acqua, Areca Lodge are all around Buakhao area and are nice hotels
