I often use AW and use the Quick Search facility using the following:

Female - just the way I'm wired.
Location within a 2/3 miles of where I happen to be - I'm lazy.
Order Results by Last Updated Date - the thinking being that the more recently updated, the more likely they are to answer their phone
Available Today - pretty much same reasoning as above.

Currently looking for a cute brunette it seems, judging by the tabs I currently have open.

And then cross reference results by searching here.

I am an infrequent punter and suspect that I may be missing a trick or two by doing it this way - I guess the reason for this post is, if I am, then what works best? This may be covered off elsewhere, if so then I do, of course, apologise.

Depending on how far you're willing to travel the best way is to identify the things most important to you, e.g. cute brunettes, big tit blondes, DFK etc and to do research on here as to who best fits the bill in your area. Of course that can be difficult as information can be somewhat buried especially since the search function is a little basic. The other option is to post your own topic (stating what you're looking for) and hope for some helpful responses, which you are quite likely to get given that you have contributed 7 reviews. Ideally in your topic you'd also provide a list of WG's that you've scouted and would like more info on - as when others can see you've put in work they're more likely to put in some work as well. It also helps narrow things down.

Unless you live in an escort dense area, you're unlikely to have many gems in just a 3 mile radius, you should strongly considering widening this.

Final but very important point, don't search for just those who are "available now". Many escorts aren't bothered to pay the extra money it costs to have that "green light" on their profile. Also, as another recent topic has suggested, the "available now" escorts can sometimes be shockingly unavailable. Just go for the ones with a phone number and who've logged in fairly recently.

Thank you, some great advice - the times I've used AW in guest mode I'd never thought to register just to use the 'Has a phone number' filter - I'm thinking that would have saved me a few hours over the years. Time to register an account - not as hgivv of course ;-)

Yeah, unfortunately I actually just meant doing it the presumably the way you currently do it, i.e. you click on the profile and only pursue if they have a number (because fuck waiting ages and playing email tennis). The search option for only those with a phone number actually costs money (AW credits)! It has a variety of options from 2.40 credits for 30 mins use of the phone only search right the way up to 72 for 6 months use. Basically it's a rip. I believe it's the only search option that costs money though although I could be wrong.

Also, despite what I said you can probably ignore how recently they logged in if they have a phone number up because they have to pay for it to be up, so usually they wouldn't have it up if they weren't working and of course it doesn't take long to give them a ring to check. The reason I did say it is because the last logged in date is probably the best filter if you can't use the phone one, as you were correct in saying it's more likely that they're currently available.

Final point, while like you I tend to only punt if they have a number I can call, obviously not all girls have one up. While in my opinion it does make them fucking idiots, it doesn't make them shit escorts. So it is worthwhile signing up just to be able to send emails to them in order to arrange a punt. It is very bloody annoying when they read them and don't reply though - which happens quite a lot, presumably even more so if you have no feedback. Perhaps one reason I have so many ignored emails (despite having previous positive feedback on AW but not loads) is that I usually ask for their number in my initial email, not in a pushy or rude way though. If they don't want to give it straight away then that's their choice but if they just ignore me because of it then they're just morons. It does usually work though and instead of waiting and playing email tennis, you can ring them up (or at least text) and obviously it's usually quicker and more efficient than sticking to emails.

Yes, as I discovered a short while ago! Not sure why I was surprised that it costs - though I guess most things are monetized these days. I'm interested to see where the messaging aspect takes me. Thanks again.

Last point in your seach
 you will find girls you will never punt with
or they screw you around
Put then in your banned profile list
then you will never see them in a search again
  so  makes later seaches smaller. And less rubbish

There is no substitute for trawling reviews to garner likely prospect for your Hotlist but you may find a reviewer whose taste matches your own and read their back catalogue.

I am not an expert but my learning on AW searches to date is as follows. 

Saved searches on the desk top version can be powerful.  I currently have four.

Nearest Active Hotlist: Two filters (1). First tab search my hotlist (2) First tab active in the last week.  I generally prioritise results by proximity.

Nearest Available Hotlist: Two filters (1) First tab search my hotlist (2) First tab available now.  I prioritise by proximity.

Recent Verification pics: Three filters (1) First tab has a verifation photo (2) First tab that I can view (3) Last tab proximity search (I use ten miles from my postcode).  I order by registered date and save the veri pics to my download folder.

Active Local Preference: This is where I store my version of the search described by posts above.

Finally, a little tip garnered here.  If use the desk top version, go the drop down for my hot list, click once on my hotlist and then, rather than clicking on the Hotlist's name, click again on my hotlist you get sent to a new page "my hotlist".  Now click on the + sign next to the hotlist and you are taking to a very interesting menu which shows the most recent time the profile was i) active and ii) logged in.

Finally if this thread gets legs I suggest someone more technically literate (I did not say younger) than me collect the learning on a wiki page.

Revelatory, this has been just revelatory.

I have now set up an AW account, added various girls to various hot lists (Petite Brunette, Brazilian, Inked, Busty Blonde etc) populated by and inspired by the reviews of the likes or punther, smiths, pumps, jerboah, The Don, LL and many more - nothing wrong with yours NigelF, but I'm mostly London based!

The ease with with I  can now whittle down a prospective punt is, well, nothing short of amazing. If anyone reading this thread is not taking the advice given above, you're definitely missing a trick - but that's none of my business.

One last thing I would note is, when writing a review here on UKP, the value of including their profile in their review in the following format -

I have found the UKP search function to be very effective, particularly when contributors have commented with previous profiles (and, if appropriate, any agency links), so you can build up a fairer picture of the girl concerned.
