See #1045

Boys toys of the 1950s.  :hi:

They remained popular into the late 60's.  Made by Britains IIRC

I am suitably chastised.

Late night BJ bars in London mostly around Kings X in the 90s, you could get a pint and a BJ.  A bit like the places in Thailand but certainly women. Until I was taken to a place I never knew they existed. Not very salubrious places.

Companion sets?

Note to younger members who might be baffled...... It's not a dating agency.

I miss women with hairy pussies.

The 80's pussy was so sexy.

OMG that's so true, back then I'd never seen a shaved pussy other than in mags, now you never see a hairy one.

Oi!.....What about the elf and safety!

No such thing in the ol' daze.

Usually built on a concrete base too.
Not for sissies!

No problem because quite often you would slide half way down then just come to a stop, or was that just me  :unknown:

Have we done Heinz Toast Toppers yet? I did a search but couldn't find any hits.

My favourite was ham and cheese, but I could quite happily eat the mushroom and bacon!

So convenient to just pop under the grill!

Unless it had been raining, in which case you would shoot down at a rate of knots and fly clean off the end.  Great fun!

Fly fishing by J.R Hartley.
The real question is why didn't he own a copy of his own book?

He probably dropped it in the river when he was fly fishing  :D

Remember these ?, given away when you spent a certain amount on petrol or groceries, then stick them in a book and when it was full trade them in for gifts from a catalogue.
Usually about 10 books for something crap like a packet of clothes pegs. A toaster would be about 500 books  :D

A recent episode of Toast on R4 covered their rise and fall.  The bloke behind them got the idea from America.  He was also behind Argos (apparently named after the place he went on holiday).  I seem to recall that at one point you could use the stamps as part payment for things in Argos.

I recall that as inflation hit, they had to issue special high value stamps, equivalent to 10 (or was it 20?) ordinary stamps.

I believe there were also Pink Shield stamps which were higher value  :unknown:

Remember this Only fools and horses scene where Slater had fitted Trigger up with some Green shield stamps and put him away in a young offenders place but he got an electric blanket and a radio when he got out, classic Trigger

The redemption stores where you exchanged the stamps for goods became Argos

I am a sad person.  Just found a few books of Green Shield stamps plus a couple of catalogues.  Well you never know when they might come in useful.

Try taking them down to Argos and see what they say........

Does anyone remember the chunky glass individual dessert bowls that filling stations used to give away?  Came in red and green glass, possibly other colours too?  Practically indestructible.  We used to use them for Angel Delight.

I've still got some steak knives my father collected from petrol stations
