Op - its not that unusual to have someone message / text on behalf of the WG and if you have spoken to her you must have got some good vibes (otherwise you wouldn't have posted and asked the question) and, as you have 25 years punting experience, you should be able to suss things out of arrival and if not "right" walk away - so why not give it a go? its only £60 for half an hour so not too much to risk.
