In the past I have travelled a fair old distance. Simply because I fancied whoever it was I was visiting.
Sort of treated it as a day away kind of thing.

I’d say the opposite. As a Midland punter London seems to have have all the variety, as you’d probably expect. I intend to punt down there one day, as the last time I had chance to wet my whistle there it was the pre internet era.

I should think it was one of the most common types of punting,there were plenty of travelling salesmen (may have dropped alot over the COVID period and wfh) who would punt whilst they were working away from home and couldnt be monitored that easily.

Another opportunity to see an SP not in your usual neck of the woods was the method used by one of our number who used the alias anonyorks.

Like me, he was also a keen follower of a football team - I don't know which one - and he posted that he always looked forward to the third round of the F.A. Cup because it might mean his team was playing away on a ground where he'd never seen them play before. (Although I never met him, that's another thing that, beside punting, we had in common; sad or what?!) I have to travel for work up to a small town in the East Midlands fairly regularly. I've only ever punted when I'm away from home as I believe in the old saying "never shit on your own doorstep".
When the Covid restrictions lifted and I began to travel North again, I was really disappointed with the girls coming up in my searches.  All the girls I used to see had gone. In their place were less attractive and more expensive girls with limited (if any) history.  After five hours travelling all the way up to the Midlands office, I'm certainly not looking to go travelling even further afield just for a punt. Have not managed to get down there yet this year though. I normally stop overnight in one of the many Premier Inns, but what with the room prices shooting back up, and impending rail strikes, i may give the smoke a wide berth this year.  I also used to visit Bristol to see a couple of tasty Poles, of which one has since disappeared sadly
