last time i went to the US, i was lucky to get an invite to a TER real life meet in New York City. To get this invite, i had a lady friend who owns a brothel here in Australia to give me a reference. Then at the meet, i met a few people who gave me references for other US cities. This was all a few years ago now.

so your choices in the US are generally the cheap street hookers or somehow get references and screening checks

When asked for references, I have sent them a link to my AW profile - this seems to give them enough certainty to be comfortable. Admittedly this is based on two meetings, but it worked a treat both times. They have no idea about AW so you need to explain that the feedback works like eBay and they get it...

It sucks. But the best attitude is to treat America as a third world country. If you are brave enough to do that, then just go out to the sticks. Find a lowlife lapdance bar. Never had a problem in the U.S. when I was there. Spotted one "working the room" and went over to ask how much. We agreed a price and she came back to my hotel with me. Only problems were no owo and the daggers my mate was throwing me in the back of the taxi!

Is it worth the hassle? Depends on your style I suppose.  With reasonable experience of negotiating muddier waters, I tend to look for that more alternative scene. Massage parlours are only slightly more straightforward than indies. The bloody jargon on the American ISG does my head in. I know it might be necessary to talk in code in some countries;  but at extortionate amounts I just think fuck it. I know somebody who works as an escort in Vegas (she wasn't an escort when I met her). A few years ago about 6 months in to working she received a booking by an English gent, or so she thought.
