Been using Viagra few years now and does the job. Only problem is the side effects. The heartburn I can cope with by also taking Gaviscon or similar. But its the red flushed face that's the problem! OH can see it and knows can be caused by Viagra. Cos I take it when she's feeling horny. And after a good pounding asks the question "you taken something? Cos your face is red".

So guys, what alternatives don't give the game away when I've taken it for a punt?

What dosage of Viagra/Sildenafil are you taking? Have you tried reducing it?

You could try Cialis/Tadalafil. May still present with heartburn/reflux if you’re prone to that, but may well resolve the facial flushing.

Another one to consider could be Spedra/Avanafil, but try the above first I would say.

Thanks for that. Was looking at them, but unable to find what side effects they have. But found them for Viagra however. I take 100ml as its the approatite dose. Lower don't work so well.

Some have reported success in reducing facial flushing by downing a pint of water when taking the blue pill. Slight drawback is that you'll probably have to factor in a toilet break.

Vardenafil doesn't give you a flushed face. (Sildenafil the worst for a flushed face I found)

Take Vardenafil and down a pint of water or a bottle of water with it and you're fine.

, and having to stop halfway through the action to take a piss. As it is have to piss numerous times throughout the night due to weak bladder. Think I'll try some other treatments rather than stop for a piss when having a punt..

Tadalafil is generally better tolerated than Sildenafil other than reflux/heartburn, but with all PDE5i’s the usual side effects are horses for courses and can affect different folks at varying levels depending on the individual themselves and the dosage strength.

If you do try it, then I’d suggest starting at 10mg (the recommended starting dose) and see how you get on - if you need to up the dosage from there, then try a max dose of 20mg. Bear in mind though the effects last around 36 hours, unlike Viagra’s 4 hours, so you should leave at least a couple of days apart before taking a second dose.

You could also consider a daily low dose of Tadalafil of either 2.5mg or 5mg o/d - although you should speak to  your GP or medical professional before considering this.  Daily Tadalafil is reported to have other benefits also, including prostate health.

Try drinking loads of tap water.

I have tried most of them and at first they all gave me bad flushing. Its one if those things, the water didnt help me.

What i found was that if i took viagra i would flush for 2 hours ish then it would go, so would then engage in sex. If the flushing returns during sex then blame it on the sexercise.

You must be a luckier lad, and more continent than either me or diesel driver - btw, I've always really envied him that - then.

Before he repeats Reply #5 above, I'll echo what he said in it.

When I first started using ED meds I had a varying variety of side effects- sometimes flushing, sometimes acid reflux, and so on. Seemed to happen whatever tab I'd popped. However, now, several years later, I only get the desired effect.

I've always wanted to try something like Viagra to be able to stay hard for multiple pops, but due to my heart condition I don't think it would be safe.

I have tried Korean Ginseng 500mg in the past and I think that helped. I tried the 2000mg Ginseng for a few days one time and it had hysterical results. I actually was quite alert and happy during the day and was even flirting with the receptionist at the hotel. Normally I need to be a bit tipsy to do that. However, it then gave me insomnia, and had trouble sleeping, so went back down to 500mg again.

Have you asked your GP for his/her opinion re safety?...

Having a “heart condition” shouldn’t necessarily preclude you from being able to take sildenafil or tadalafil, the latter  of which can have a mild anti-hypertensive effect when taken daily in low doses.

Speak to your GP or cardiologist to discuss potential options.

Will see when the need arises. At the moment I can get hard twice but gone are the days when I could have a hard-on 3 or 4 times.  :unknown:

Indeed! well it was orignally a treatment for High blood pressure, and then people noticed an odd side effect!

The rest they say is history!...

But surely if someone has a very fast heartbeat or suffers from palpitations then it would be dangerous for them no?

But surely if someone has a very fast heartbeat or suffers from palpitations then it would be dangerous for them no?

Probably not, but it is complex. In general terms, most patients with heart problems can benefit from ED meds but not all, so SPEAK TO YOUR DOCTOR

There can be a number of reasons for tachycardia and heart palpitations, both could be either be directly cardiac related or non-cardiac related.  If you have these conditions then really you should be talking to a cardiologist anyway, and not just your GP.  Do you take beta-blocker medication for this (i.e. Bisoprolol)?

If you have hypotension (low blood pressure), this can cause the heart to beat faster in some cases, so any PDE5i could have an adverse affect.  Again it really is a conversation for your medical professional.

I have and it's not actually related to my heart it's a combination of things that make it beat faster. But hey ho, it's life and we must all carry on smiling. :hi:

You don't say.

Your GP is competent to assess both heart palpitations and tachycardia, and make appropriate referrals to more specialist services as necessary.  :hi:
