If you grass him up to his boss, someone more senior, or HR, and he knows it's you, then he's going to be out to get his own back.  Unless he's an office freeloading jobsworth who nobody would miss and other people have complained about too, I'd have a quiet word with him about not using office time or equipment for that, and if anyone else catchs him you'll not be able to do anything.

Seriously. I'm surprised by the OP asking advice on what to do.  Ur being paid to do a job, just do it.  If any of my staff were doing it, I would issue them with a warning, verbal at first, if they got irate,  it would be escalated to a written one.
It's not being hypocritical,  t hey can do what they like on their own time. But almost everyone deserves a second chance. I have given people second chances and regretted it later but it still hasn't changed my views.

Blackmail is definitely a no no. U could get ur self into a whole bag of shit.

Don't think so. The incident happened quite a long time ago and was very different from what I described although the thought process was very much the same.

The intention of the post was not to waste time. This type of incidents happened and I have been wondering what I could do or if I could have done better, hence the post. I needed to be anonymous so the story was not entirely the true reflection of the incident but the thought process was pretty much the same.

I can see people have different approaches but no blackmailing seems to be the consensus.
