Rather than derailing that thread I've decided its best to create a new one instead)So anyway, a few users mentioned something about there being a 'naked hairdresser' on Tottenham Court Road just off Oxford Street in London. I find it fascinating and bizarre at the same time that such a place would've even been allowed to exist. In many ways its the stuff of fantasy, the urban myth if you will. I'm surprised she was even able to operate given the obvious licensing issues you'd assume would arise. Added to this, shit like this would spread like wildfire these days given the presence of social media. Very soon any lady operating such a service from the high street would find herself out of a job with her face plastered all over social media (and likely the Metro) and smacked with a big fine by the council
Anyway I was hoping that Signy and others could share their memories of this lady, if anyone actually remembers meeting her, that is...
Where exactly on Tottenham Court Road was this? Was it a discrete service operating within a massage parlour or did her place actually have a barber's shop front ?!
What did she look like? Was she a busty blonde hottie? Did she just offer just a naked haircut with her topless and cutting your hair as normal or were you allowed to touch and grope
And what was her place like? Was she always busy with a line of customers waiting at the door or was it quiet a lot of the time?
Finally how was she even allowed to get away with it? Were the licensing laws back in the day less restrictive than they are these days ???
Sorry if it seems a bit odd that I'm so interested in something that was around 20+ years ago but a nice gem of London punting history that I never knew about and given the climate these days its something that would probably never happen these days...
