Sorry not sure if the right place to post this...

Anyone else experience the page jumping on the regional escorts lists on iPhone?

Eg when you click a link to a thread, the page jumps and you inadvertently go to another thread.

Yep, had this for at least a month now. If I click on say the third review down it jumps up a bit and loads the second review.

Thanks

I think it might have coincided with the addition of the legal disclaimer at the bottom of the page.

I tend to get around it by zooming in and clicking on the “new” icon or whatever it is at the end of the title. Or sometimes a very quick click works (if that makes sense?). Or just perseverance!

Offline Hobbit

I've had the same issue and it's very annoying! When clicking on the link it either jumps or selects the next one down.

Admin – is this an iOS issue or something to do with the website? Can this be fixed?

Offline Happyjose

Yep, same issue for a few weeks with iPhone

Are all you guys usuing the same version of IOS and the same model of iPhone?

I mainly use an iPad Air 2 running IOS 10.3.1 (pr fer it to 11 or 12) and I have no issues at all.

Maybe a case of fat thumbs?   :D  (kidding)

It definitely is not "fat thumbs". I have the problem on my iPhone 8 running iOS 12.1.4

Yeah, I get this too. I find that if you tap and hold the link you want to actually click, it will avoid the page jump. Not ideal, but it's good as a workaround.

Has this problem always been there or something recent? If so when did it start? I can't remember changing anything that would cause this.

Definitely recent. Thought it was an issue with a new (second hand) phone I got approx 3 months ago, problem started then, as far as I remember. Thought it was just me until I saw this thread.

I'd say about a month, maybe a little bit longer but my mind is shot!

It's been a few months for me. I just thought it was my phone or incompatibility of the forum software with Safari on iPhone.

Yes this has been happening since I got my new iPhone a week ago.
If I use the old iPhone 7 it doesn’t happen. Best way to avoid it is to double tap screen to magnify, it doesn’t seem as bad then.

I noticed this for a while, but not currently a problem on iOS 12.2. Weirdly it only seemed to happen on the London Review sub-forum for me, worked fine on General and London - General Discussion

My workaround whilst I had the problem was to long click on the link I wanted, which prompted to open the wrong link in a new tab / window, cancel that and clicking worked fine after that, but came back if I refreshed the London Review sub

Does the same happen on this page?

Not jumping on that page. All working correctly through Safari on my iPhone.

I presume some kind of iOS upgrade made it break because I can't remember making any change to those thread listing pages.

Finally got round to debugging this.

Admin: please could you try adding this CSS?

body{-webkit-text-size-adjust:100%;}

I have added it, any change? :unknown: I have no iPhone devices to test.

My biggest problem was on show unread posts section

Just tried it and no problems. Presume the change affected that section

That seems to have fixed the jumping issue, thanks!

The jumping was caused by mobile browsers automatically increasing font size when viewing a desktop site on a small viewport (i.e. a mobile device). The new CSS has told the browser not to resize. So the tradeoff is that fonts now appear smaller, meaning we need to zoom in more to make the text readable.

One further suggestion which would help. Update .inner to the below:
.inner
{
padding: 1em 1em 2px 0;
margin: 0 1em 0 0;
border-top: 1px solid #99a;
-webkit-text-size-adjust:auto;
}

This should allow automatic font resizing to continue to be in effect when viewing individual topics (where the jumping is not an issue).

Never had a problem with the page jumping. But now the writing is tiny. Making reading posts difficult, is this temporary a glitch?

Yeah it does make it a bit small!

One final suggestion then which keeps everything as before, except for specifically the list of topics which I think unfortunately needs to be smaller text to avoid the jumping issue.

Remove all previous changes, and only apply this:

.topic_table table
{
width: 100%;
-webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;
}

Hopefully this is good enough compromise. Maybe someone else has another idea :)

thanks Admin for the help!

Yes I have an I-phone and didn’t have any problems.

Now I need a magnifying glass to see the writing...

It’s better today thanks.  :yahoo: :drinks:

Still tiny in the main menu but when threads are open it’s back to how it was. Phew.
Thanks again.
