Perhaps it may be wishful thinking, but a common trend in the episode was that some of them were in financial difficulty before they started. Maybe if the wealth inequality gap keeps increasing and automation makes progress in removing everyone's jobs, perhaps there may be more people that will find a way to justify sex work as valid work; or maybe not. 

Time will tell I guess, I am not sure whether to be amazed or horrified.
