When Adultwork started in summer 2003 I’d been punting for about a year, and it was hard work seeking out independents if you didn’t want to use an agency or the back page of the local paper. Fortunately, I’d joined that other punting site and generally used its reviews to determine who I should see. Although Adultwork has been full of scams of one kind or another since the day it started (including many likely generated by themselves, as smiths points out), it was, and is still, the best single resource available to us.
I think one of its great contributions was that it allowed would-be prostitutes to dip their toe in the water, so to speak, with none of the initial outlay otherwise associated with a web site or agency fees. Some found they then quite liked the job and went on to greatness; others found it wasn’t for them and quietly slipped away. I think that we punters benefited greatly from this.
As to selecting a prostitute from Adultwork, their review system is almost useless, so what do you do to search out a good SP? Negative reviews don’t exist, and you’re brave if you choose to visit an SP with zero or very few reviews (although I accept that somebody’s got to do that!), but if you choose a well-reviewed SP, and check that the bulk of her reviewers have also reviewed many others, then, in my experience, you’re pretty safe in having a good punt.
As to booking that punt, I avoid the Adultwork booking system and unless the SP gives a telephone number or email address, I move on.
Of course, nothing quite beats taking advice from the reviews here
