How does one snip a quotation from another post and insert into one's own?

PS I do appreciate my stupidy at not knowing puts be right in the UKP crosshairs for ridicule, pity and ire. But preferably good natured leg pulling. In any case I'll not squawk lol

You hit the Quote button in the top right hand corner of the post you want to quote and you can edit down the quoted bit if you just want to respond to part of it.

You could progress to editing the quote and splitting it into multi quotes.  Perhaps not
