As I've said before, punting in the States can be ok if you are experienced. What I've done is (where possible) find a taxi driver, usually black, that I trust. From earlier research (ISG and google) I'll have located the strip joints in the shitville area, usually black hood areas but deco poor areas where people don't just wander in to accidentally. It's easier with a taxi driver that ok talking about such things and knows the area. One I had in Chicago was originally from the hood but an educated man. We discussed two different ones on the way and he dropped me off and the doormen could see I had contacts. The police don't bother these places and I think a white guy is a bit of a novelty. Of course I take precautions and visit with just the cash I need and no credit cards, and am used to this sort of thing. The main problems are usually just between rival black gangs. When you take a stripper to a booth, she'll give you prices, usually after the first dance or some way perhaps to check you're not a cop, like getting your cock out. Different experience totally to the stuck up posh white boy places. Also the cost is not horrendous and in some places I've had a good 'sample' before taking a private dance (sit in a less obvious place and if it's not too busy sometimes get a lap-grind by way of 'hello'). Getting home is the trickiest part. If there's no-one within a hundred yards of the club I ask the doormen to get me a taxi. They're mostly helpful as they like to encourage repeat business. I don't usually tip them but if you want to give them a small tip in advance (when going in) it sometimes helps to get VIP cameradie. Like I said, not for newbies but the way to go if you are an experienced traveller that can hang out in less 'salubrious' areas.
