Not had poppers since my raving days. We used to snort in a club, heads rockets upstairs, jump around like a loony, land back in a bump. Rinse and repeat.

The only time I ever took anything (I'm so fucking boring  ) was at a party when I was about 17, in the mid-70s.

Someone offered me a sniff of something out of a small bottle. My head buzzed and span around a bit, and I didn't particularly like it. Apparently it was amyl nitrate (which I believe is what poppers are...or were).

Relatively inoffensive I was led to believe, and thought so up to the present day (even though I never tried them - or anything else - ever again).

However...apparently the poppers you get these days are not the same, and in some unlucky individuals can cause physical harm, including PERMANENT damage to your eyes. Yes, it can actually blind you for life if you're unlucky. So watch out folks, keep safe.

Therein lies the rub - you don't!  In this country, only isopropyl nitrate is now legal - despite the fact it doesn't give the same experience as the older isobutyl nitrite, tends to cause worse headaches, and is linked to the risk of eye damage.  Many sellers will claim to sell the old stuff, but what you receive is still just isopropyl - whatever the label may say.

It appears that France has loopholes that mean that isobutyl can still be obtained.  In the end, your best chance is to buy from one of the known french sellers - or find a brit who buys these and sells them on.  It's all a pain really, and a lottery.  But, if you're a fan, it's worth the effort.

It's a wonder anyone new actually bothers, these days...

Side effects can include a banging headache, a cough for a day or so afterwards - but these are mainly with the nastier fake isobutyl.  Makes you wonder why we bother...!

Given that they're a vasodilator, I would suggest having a word with your GP if you're thinking of using them.  Depending on the condition and any drugs you take, the effects could be anywhere from benign to fatal.  Better to suffer the embarrassment of the discussion than meeting an untimely and embarrassing end.

I was just thinking I'm fairly certain the ban can because it was a suspecting carcinogen. But was worried I was confusing it with benzenes which are known carcinogens.

Viagra and alike are vaso dilators. I think that means the blood vessels become bigger allowing blood to flow easier. This happens in the brain also.
Poppers does exactly the same thing but for a shorter time.

Never use viagra or similar together with poppers. It's not about pre-existing conditions, it's that it can cause your blood pressure to plummet too low and cause major health issues, if not death. Don't take the gamble, keep them both firmly separate.

Brands mean nothing in poppers world.  Any old dodgy producer will sell all kinds of "brands" that they've made and labelled themselves.  There'll be any number of "Amsterdam" poppers out there - only if you're lucky will you hit the good stuff.  Though I think Canada was meant to be one of the better places to buy?

But, TBH, it's still a nightmare trying to buy decent poppers.

In just one 10-day period, this batch was responsible for at least 10 deaths and 48 overdoses. Dealers are also cutting heroin with fentanyl to give the heroin a bigger kick.

I find the best way to use it is to get a small clear plastic bottle - roll up kitchen towel and pour half a bottle of poppers into the bottle. No risk of spilling - can leave it lying down alongside you ready for sniffing.

I love taking Poppers when punting and tend to pour some onto some tissues placed in a nappy bag (All good WG's normally have a ready supply) and then inhale the poppers directly from the bag.   This prevents me from spilling them mid-punt.....

Tend to buy them from local corner shops as far cheaper than most sex shops!!
