Where do you park? Do you worry about neighbours seeing you?

Offline Shadow

If you're specifically told where to park, I would park anywhere BUT there.  Use Google maps etc. to familiarise yourself.  I'd rather walk for a bit then have the chance of some burly east European waiting for me.  I wouldn't be too worried about neighbours, chances are they know and have long since accepted it.  Just wander in as if its perfectly natural that you're there, which I appreciate is easier said than done when it isn't!

You scout the area on Google Maps and either find a suitable car park or park on a street away from the SP's location, so nobody sees you've come from a car, so no nosey neighbours can clock your registration number and you also don't get neighbours asking who owns that car that was parked in front of no. 8 for 2 hours at midday today.

Offline The_Don

op, if you have the time have a look at the External Link/Members Only

It has some useful info for, new and seasoned punters (IMO).

Where do you park?

Once you know a post code, if possible use google street view and plan several places to park. Avoiding P&D via apps or add reg numbers which may help with anonymity (if partners ask about fines/charges on a card). Several streets away is good and free if possible even if a 1-10 min walk is required to do so.

Do you worry about neighbours seeing you?

Not really.

A good W/G (maid at a location), will be try and be discrete for all parties involved trying to limit possible issues.

I've been to some places that didn't care and it can cause issues.

Well I mostly travel via public transport but thats because its decent in London, but I would definetely park a couple streets away, look up the area on Google maps, check parking restrictions etc. Would never park where asked too that's just asking for trouble.

Offline Southernbloke

If I am going to an area I feel that could be awkward I have parked up a couple of miles away and then got a cab

Offline 8MillionDollarMan

Where do you park? Do you worry about neighbours seeing you?

In a neighbouring street or local car park.
I always use Google maps after getting the postcode to get an idea how discreet a location is,if it's a residential address you just have to accept neighbours seeing you.
If the SP says it's discreet and it's not when you get there you can always walk.

Some people don't really look at a logo or company branding.  I've seen some custom hi vis with very fun stuff on them.

In my area (London), I've punted a number of different W/G in the same room/flat/house/hotel etc

Some times I've turned up to a punt and would ask if we could use a certain room.

London a few places that often see a lot of action. Just like other places around the UK.

Always take the shit car, don't want to draw attention.

Cash in pocket for meters

At least 5 minutes walk away, as it helps get the body ready for some action.

Strut with purpose as if you belong there.

Having a phone to your ear is a good trick, and on that note, switch your civvie phone off miles before reaching punt location if you have a suspicious partner

Some meters still take cash but a number of councils and car parks have removed cash as an option in the last few years.  Offering apps or having to call with cards (big brother doesn't like anonymity)

Why would they send it to the police? You are not doing anything illegal. Not yet at any rate, with the exception of if you are punting SP's who are being coerced.

As for posting online, they are more likely to land up in trouble. But we all have to weigh up our risk vs reward.

There was an instance in the NE where a facebook page was set up called 'brothelcreepers', people in the street were pissed off with the activity at one house so were posting pictures of punters and their cars or vans, including reg no's and ones with company logos. So if you're happy for your face to be plastered over the internet with comments that you are visiting prostitutes then you have nothing to worry about.

I'm not saying it's a regular occurrence but it is a possibility punters should be aware of and standard precautions like not parking in the street should be taken to avoid any chance of anything like that happening.

If Im unfamiliar with the area I will use Google Maps. I also have my bike in the back of the car and I've seen myself  cycle the last mile in. But normally Id walk half a mile if I dont need the bike. Ive had a parking ticket sent to my house from a hotel I visited some 10 years ago. Luckily I got the letter first. This raise my awarenesss to be a lot more careful as to where I park up. :hi:

There was similar in the North West albeit some years ago now. This was a lone individual on a highly unusual personal crusade. The photos were of punters entering and leaving parlours. The photos were few in number but his aim was the deterrent effect.

Indeed this is not unknown, but in most instances is preventable. Speeding tickets are another example. However there are some travel issues which are less controllable such as accidents and breakdowns.

You should always have a cover story for why you were stuck on a particular motorway etc for hours.

Ultimately though you have to accept there are some things beyond your control and Sod's/Murphy's laws may apply

Never where the WG says! If they do. Sometimes this means a longer walk, and on route back to you make sure you don’t go right way. Take a detour. You just want make sure no one connected with the WG gets a glimpse of your car/reg.  think spy novel.

Even if your fancy single your employer/mum/sister/Facebook friends if they found out you punted would you want them to know???   Think 90% of wg are normal, 10% are high or unhinged and you don’t know if they might blackmail you. It’s happened to me in the past, random messages later from wg. Just block them and tell go away but if any had your real details…

Offline Captainhowdy666

I find that visiting a brothel is a lot less stressful
Wheras the service doesn’t always end up amazing , the whole set up, parking in advance and knowing you are going to to a “safe” environment instead of taking boot luck on a random and worrying it will do a 180 once the door opens.
Also with parlours you are free to say nobody takes your fancy and walk away without a volley of abuse or a pimp turning up saying you’re wasting the girls time.

Would they not be breaching UK data protection and privacy rights of a non-public person who has done nothing illegal? I found this online:

"harassment is a criminal act that consists of a pattern of behavior, usually of individually legal acts, that together are intended to intimidate, humiliate, or cause fear in the target of that harassment. Posting a series of embarrassing photos, even when asked to stop, could be illegal if it can be shown to the court that this was harassment."

Personally I couldn't care less. I tend to drive to the closest legal parking I can find to the WG's house. It would be very difficult for anyone to claim I did anything wrong or even accuse me of being annoying, what have I done wrong? London is far too busy to worry about that being a problem.

Never had a problem with a neighbour. Have on occasion greeted a neighbour and nobody has ever asked me who I'm visiting, why would they? Just look like you belong and walk like you know where you're going. If you're looking lost someone might offer to help etc, but most people are busying about their own lives.

What has any of that got to do with punter's faces and vehicle registration numbers being posted on facebook many of whom may be married or in company vehicles? The fact it may be illegal and facebook did eventually take it down is no consolation to those who had their details and the fact they were punters made public.

Being outed as a punter may not cause you any problems, in fact it wouldn't be a major issue for me, but that doesn't mean everyone should have the same 'couldn't care less' attitude you have. It was well documented on here that punters were being filmed and as far as I know and according to posts no one took a chance.

I'm not an expert on the law with regards photography and how its is used, so this info is based on you-tube videos, and how auditors take photos and videos

I believe if the photo is taken in a public place, then you have no right to privacy, even if you think, the person shouldnt be taking a photo of you.  As for these photos being posted on Facebook, nothing wrong with this, but the only that might prevent the group remaining open, is the T&C of Facebook

There a local Facebook group, that posts photos of cars parked badly or even parked on pavements.  Some motorists have tried to get the photos deleted, but facebook said these photos dont breach any of there guidelines

The only place where you would expect privacy, if the photo was taken on private ground, then there might be grounds, to stop the photographer

Offline Marmalade

Maybe change the name of the thread to ‘concerns before a punt’. It doesn’t really have anything to do with nerves, just practical worries. You could be ‘nervous’ about it, but nerves alone would be worrying about meeting a prossie for the first time for instance.

In answer to thread title I might say, have a shot of vodka, or something else to calm your nerves. That wouldn’t make any difference to wondering if someone was going to photograph your number plate.

And that is only when you are on private property and the photographer is also on private property without permission. So if your picture can be taken from a public place, or the photographer has permission to be where they are then you can't call foul.

I wasn't really suggesting people not be concerned if they are worried about being outed, I was asking if they'd be breaking the law if posting a photo of you - I wouldn't have thought it was legal but find it interesting to know if it is. If it's a concern for others then by all means take precautions.

The legality of it is irrelevant as it doesn't matter if it's illegal or not once a picture is posted on the internet it's there and if screenshotted it's there forever.

Would you start civil proceedings against someone who posted your picture outing you as a punter?

I appreciate why it's a problem for someone with a partner and why they wouldn't want to go to court. My own interest is out of curiosity as I would've thought it would be tricky ground to be posting photos of people accusing them of something you only suspect, but that could have very damaging consequences.

Does this kind of thing happen much?

Not just a problem for those with a partner, can cause some people problems at work, right up to dismissal being a possibility if a company uniform worn, or company car or phone used.

They still do it now, although the managed zone is no more, street girls and punters still use Holbeck as the Leeds RLD. The Save Our Eyes group is still active and regularly post pictures of punters and their cars.

I used the RLD a few times back when it was allowed, but wouldn't do so now. The police usually just give you a slap on the wrist and tell you not to come back, but the real danger is having your picture plastered on social media - the Save our Eyes group are absolutely relentless  :scare:

There was one news story, where the Sunday Mail, followed up the news story about a sheriff, who was a regular at Carols Sauna, in Edinburgh

So the following week, the news paper printed a number of photos, of guys going in/out of Carols Sauna Edinburgh, and the only saving grace for these guys, there faces were blurred out.  But the rest of the photos, clothing like jackets, trousers were open for all to see, so if you were someones wife, you might recognize your husband
