In many ways it has been lucky all round. I am pleased UKP has done well here for all the right reasons. Dedication to putting the punter first meant paying a lot of attention to AW. Not uncritically either. But in a way that best serves punters. If anything, it might have helped AW tighten up their act. But the sterling work on UKP - especially Jacob's efforts to expose and list scammers - no doubt meant that the sheer volume of AW mentions on here meant that UKP got picked up quickly on google searches for Adultwork when Adultwork was down. And quite rightly in google terms as well, as it was all relevant information.
UKP has triumphed whereas %%%, that served a narrower policy (whether based on the shortsightedness of the owner or, as most of us now believe, pandering to some of the more politically aggressive WGs at the expense of punters' interests) saw no benefit.
UKP has been enriched by several valuable posters (who have, of course, run the gamut of fire as part of their initiation lol!) and also been introduced to genuine, newer punters who can benefit immensely from the combined goodwill and knowledge on here. So you could say that UKP, having worked hard to help itself, has been helped by fate. Either way, punters are benefitting, and that is UKP's aim. What input there has been from prossies has largely been moderated by the existing community here (rather than from on high), as with the numpties and fakers. The input from prossies on UKP is always small, but when prossies can stand the heat as well as genuinely seeing things from the punter's viewpoint and expressing it, they add delightful colour.
