Mhm, and while I can appreciate they may have a genuine reason for that ... the idea is if they can't trust me enough to come through after I've given them my word or offered to do as much as I reasonably can, then I won't trust them not to turn out to be a scammer either.

That said, I agree it can be a tough call on either side sometimes hence the general advice for going with your instincts and taking it on a case-by-case basis.
