It’s not necessarily a scam.

However it likely is, you will be asked to send a WhatsApp pic of the card as proof, the code will then be used by the scammer, making the card worthless.

Agree to the meeting, with a card and see if a request is made for a picture, if not then actually pick up a card on route to the meet.

If they ask for a pic, name and shame.

It's a scam 100%. There is no good reason someone would not accept cash.

I'm on telegram, banned from twatter. However there are lots of fake prozzers on there that send messages asking me for business.
Either a sugarbabe or pro. They inevitably give themselves away has scammers by asking for gift cards or part payments by card. I tell them its a cash only transaction, they soon go quiet once they know I'm not a mug.Never hear from them again.
Imo,  prozzing is a cash only business...

Ask them to provide photo ID. If they're genuine then they shouldn't hesitate.

Oh, and also run any images they have through Yandex, Google reverse image search, and tineye.

Pedantic but, gift cards can be spent online and cash can't. Unless you pay it into a bank account which then opens the door to being investigated or tax issues.
It's definitely suspicious, but there are non scam reasons.

Some punters want or require an anonymous way to pay deposits or for online/remote services.

If it’s the wg asking for gift card what would be their in your words ‘none scam reasons’ I’d like to know as I just say it’s a scam anyone asking for anything but cash it’s a scam

That's true but the profile of scammers posing as hookers is they ask for gift cards.

I mean if they're happy to receive them on arrival, then they avoiding paying cash into a bank account. Doing that avoids the risk of all sorts of tax implications. Ie if you set your self up as a masseuse then pay money into your company account you're liable for tax, if you receive payment in gift cards you can buy your Christmas presents on amazon, or your shopping at sainsburys tax free. You also avoid the weird situation at Argos where you want to buy your sons PS5 with £500 in crisp 20s which whilst not illegal is unusual these days, especially if you come back for a TV 2 weeks later.
It's 99% a scam, especially if they want them in advance. Just being a bit pedantic that it doesn't have to be.
