A few of my own thoughts, for what they are worth...
Bareback sex is the most basic and fundemental human impulse, it's the reason why there are 8 billion of us on this planet!
I think it is unreasonable to regard a punter as an utter madman jut because in the heat of the moment he accepts an SP's offer of BB. I think I'm sensible enough to decline, but I'm in my late 50s, and have plenty of self-control. However I'd have jumped at the chance when I was in my 20s, and had a barely controllabe sex-drive, and a cavalier attitude to all forms of risk. (I think many on here have forgotton what it is like to be young)
We should also remember that times and attitudes change. As a teen, I enjoyed hearing my favourite uncle's tales of rampant and unchecked sexual adventures in the early 70s, with countless one night stands, casual flings, and if he couldn't get lucky on a Saturday night: Hookers...
Now and again he'd catch something, and have to down to the clinic and get a shot! And all would be well. He didn't believe in condoms ("it's like wearing a Wellington boot")...He didn't wear a seat-belt, because he wanted to be "thrown clear"..LOL... And he drove better (according to him) after a few drinks!
He must sound like and idiot and a madman, but his attitudes were the norm amongst blokes back then.
I was about 25 when HIV/Aids arrived on these shores.
Up untill that points we called "condoms" "Durex"...jut like we call all brands of vacum cleaners "Hoovers"... But clearly the HIV health eductaion campaigns couldn't use a brand name. I'ver never got used to saying "condoms"...
My generation had the fear of God put up us, and wouldn't dare have sex with anyone without a Durex (sorry, condom), but as new generations come along, attitudes change. I remember when at some point in the late 90s, one or two EE girls in Soho walk-ups started to offer OWO. I was shocked, beacuse for about 15 years it was difficult to get OWO from ANY sex worker. It was frowned upon. But, today, on this forum it is accepted as the norm.
