Author Topic: Browsing AW & UKP etc on iPads -WARNING - apps / pages running in the background  (Read 1860 times)

There's me thinking that on Safari with in-private browsing the web history doesn't show.  Which is usually the case.  Although i do check
I double clicked on the main control button to close down apps which are 'open' but not showing.  As this burns the battery
Fuck me sideways - there is the purple one & our favourite with a blue-grey colour  :scare:   Not sure why / how this happened.   I clicked on the pages & up these pop on the browser.  That would have taken some explaining.  I could have got away with some porn website but AW & UKP would have been a disaster area.  So when checking the history etc i now close down all the apps running etc.  Better to be safe .... [maybe the same for iPhones too ?]

Not only that, but if your OH has an iPad/phone signed in with the same Apple ID, they can see what's open on your iPad.

Do they need to use a password ?  Is this like family sharing ?  Apple Music offer this & i'm thinking it might save a few quid.  But then open me up to a whole pile of problems if i get the wrong settings.  Hence binned.  i'll pay the extra tenner a month - only the equivalent of one punt a year. Or one & a half

I detest all this apple-google-samsung "we make it so easy to share things with all your friends" crap. What they mean is, we want to share everything about you with us so we can send you targetted advertising.

Sorry for being thick - where is this exactly? Under the "Settings"?

Search the App Store for a solution to this issue, I won't post what it is as it will give mumsnet the info too but if you can't work it out pm me.

There's also n issue with auto upload of photos if you accidentally take a screenshot, watch out!!

Also note that on newer iPhones when you delete a photo it goes into a folder called "recently deleted"- still very much visible! So you have to delete it again from that folder.

Double click the central button bottom centre of the iPad or iPhone.  Its the only way i know to access these 'pages'

I end every session with a visit to dear old Google, then clear history and website data in settings.

On Mac/iPhone you can turn off autocomplete which prevents this- is there perhaps a similar option for windows?

For the love of god, never use safari for such shenanigans. I always DL'ed a completely separate browser. There are a few on the app store. I used atomic web browser with all the privacy settings on but there are tons of others not connected to google chrome or Apple.

And even then I deleted it afterwards, just in case.
