I am neither rich nor famous, but I do occasionally intersect briefly with that world because of work. If you move in those circles, you are often able to take advantage of what I call the 'semi-pro' escort.
You'll find these ladies in the bars of very expensive hotels, hanging around certain nightclubs, ligging at high-profile social events. They hook up with men of a certain age, usually, with a great deal of means. They get sent limos to pick them up and bring them, via private elevator, to hotel suites. They spend long weekends at French villas. They hang out on private yachts. They don't take cash per se - usually they are given 'gifts' - jewelry, very expensive handbags, shoes, dresses - and have ways of converting these into cash as necessary. Occasionally the rich man's aides will sub them some 'expenses'.
They wouldn't think of themselves as sex workers - more as 'professional girlfriends'. Sadly a fair number of them succumb to chemical or drink habits, presumably required to maintain the cognitive dissonance. But others get out at the right time, marry a city dealer, and live happy lives.
