You have touched on a point which is very relevant to this thread.   If a SP has rimming (giving) on her likes list, I will usually give her a miss.   The thought of DFK with a girl who might have had her tongue up a few guys' arses earlier that day is offputting, to put it mildly.   I guess as far as SP's are concerned it is a trade off - by offering rimming they will attract a certain client base, but, at the same time, they risk alienating others.

Good advice, but think you meant A and B? There is no vaccine for C and rimming is not a likely transmission route anyway. Hep A is likeliest as faecal is a transmission route. Nasty illness if you succumb but short term and no lasting issues. Hep B will require blood involvement in transmission, so less likely with rimming alone, but that also can be lurking around back passages especially if there is any accompanying penetration.

i think the risk of picking up *something* is higher with rimming, perhaps not your classic std's, but some infection/bug etc...

If haemorrhoids are associated with bleeding then potentially risk is increased for blood borne viruses such as Hep B. HIV is pretty much discounted though.

That's broadly true. In terms of 'standard' STI's you are at risk but it is difficult to study or quantify rimming as it is rarely a stand alone sexual activity. Rimming is especially common in MSM, but likewise only part of a potential range of accompanying risky activity especially anal sex. In general terms though it is considered low risk on a par with other oral sex practices.

However with rimming you open yourself up to a whole range of other gastro-intestinal infections which are transmitted by the faeco-oral route and which you would not normally encounter with other sexual practices.

This would include Hepatitis A (also fairly common with MSM) and also the likes of E Coli and Shigella. There is also the risk of parasitic infections such as Giardiasis which someone else mentioned.
