Malmaison has a good bar and is 5 minute walk from the Mailbox canalside which as 5 or 6 upmarket lively bars next to the Indigo Hotel.

Maybe the Metropole at the NEC when there is a trade show on.
Outside of London and larger European cities I don't think you will find much.
When in Birmingham I stay at the Hamptons by Hilton, Broad St. or Ibis Styles (if on a budget) (Irving Street). Both are convenient for most of the girls I like (or are likely) to see.

I too have have used the Hampton by Hilton on broad street but have started using the Hilton Garden inn Brindley Place for a couple of reasons. No key card needed to get the lift to the rooms, room service and fridges in the rooms to keep a beer or two cold.
