A couple of days later, once the jetlag had subsided, my relative pottered off to work and I set off in an Uber for downtown Calgary to do what I was being paid for. A couple of days of hard work on the project and I was done but still had 4 days before my flight back to the UK - time to have a play!
Next morning, relative gone off to work, I sat down with my laptop and started to research the possibilities. It was situated about a mile north of central downtown across the Bow River on Centre Street, the entrance was at the rear of a liquor store off an alleyway - it sounds a bit iffy, but it was daytime and Calghary is a very safe city. Through the door and up the stairs to the venue, ring the bell and the door was answered by a 30 something blonde who looked like she had seen better days and I was beginning ot have second thoughts at this point! Asked the price and was told, once again, $80 for 1 hour. Not sure if that was going to be a completely legit establishment but I though that I could at least have a massage and then find somewhere else so went ahead and followed her through to the massage room, once again leaving my shoes at the door. Massage room was typical of similar establishments in the UK, but very clean and tidy, large massage table, counter down one side with mirrors above and various oils etc on the top, cupboards and drawers underneath. Shower room off to one side, and subdued lighting.
At this point i was asked 'what do you want?' to which I replied 'What is available' hoping for a response which would define the establishment. The reply was instant, $80 for the 1 hour massage, or $300 for all services - it would seem that this is the 'standard' rate for the city! Once again, i opted for the full service, paid over the money and was instructed to shower while she disposed of the funds 5 minutes later she returned to find me face down on the massage table as I would be in the UK. Would I go back? Probably I will. I can find an excuse to go and stay with relatives which saves on the hotel bills and I can use the money for 'fun'. Next time I will pick my establishments better, I would probably go back to MagicMassage, but do a little more research and find some of the other establishments that aren't just basic massage parlours that happen to offer full service.
