Author Topic: Question for the Web Devs and other web savvy techs about search results  (Read 527 times)

Every so often when searching a pic or a phone number from a profile I get a bunch of hits to what might be copies of associated ads that are seeming saved in locations unconnected with punting.  E.g. This number from a recent London SP: 07495429832

Are these punters nabbing copies for personal reference?
Or is it dodgy schemes for pop-up storms or hacking?
Or...?

Your professional insights appreciated.

It might be because the number happens to be the same set of digits as used on random websites and on these random websites the digits may not represent a phone number or be part of a longer phone number used in another country such as Russia.

I'm talking about identifiable SP related content not random coincidences.

I couldn't find any for your example.

I googled the number you gave and without following any of the links I'd say that it just looks like she is advertising in lots of places, Vivastreet, Xlamma, Kommons etc. I don't know if they are any good as sites though as I tend to stick to AW as it has better detail generally, even if the pics are usually less glossy/more realistic.

I think the original sites, kommons, xlamma, etc., have been compromised regarding their original text/keywords.

This might describe what you (and I) are experiencing -
External Link/Members Only

"The gibberish hack automatically creates many pages with non-sensical sentences filled with keywords on your site. These are pages that you didn't create, but have URLs that might be compelling for users to click. Hackers do this so the hacked pages show up in Google Search. Then, if people try to visit these pages, they’ll be redirected to an unrelated page, like a porn site. Hackers make money when people visit these unrelated pages."

Xtro is right
Most of those strange hits are fakes organised by a Russian gang and automatically redirect to External Link/Members Only
Flirt.com looks like a dating/contacts  scam site, but the Russians are scamming them by the fake affiliate forwarding click redirects when you try to click on the fake google hits.

wish id paid attention to IT in school instead of playing Robert Baggio free kick on the BBC website

all this may as well be in Russian for me, lack of genuine IT/computer skills is most annoying now
