I was thinking about Dark_Gable's sickening experience and wondered if how punters dress give themselves a way somehow (not saying that's the case with Dark_Gable,just a thought).
How do you dress when going to a punt?
Unless you going to keep clothes on when doing the dirty deed, does it matter?
Seriously though, if it is about Dark_Gable being robbed, it wouldn't matter what you wore. In these sink estates or schemes as they are known up here in Scotland, strangers stick out like a sore thumb regardless of what they are wearing. It is the same in the well to do country villages.
I know this from experience where I go for walks both in urban and country areas. I just wear jeans, rain-jacket and trainers and the looks I get from some, it's like I'm an alien. You have to realise that in these areas quite a lot of the inhabitants are very insular and hardly ventures out of their immediate area whether due to age or lack of wealth. You come in and you stick out like a sore thumb to them.
I've only read a few bits of Dark_Gable's experience but it sounds like a set-up. If you go for a punt in these types of areas, there may be opportunistic crimes or simply busy-body local with ramped up paranoia. Depending on situation, both should be easily dealt with through having an air of confidence, walking away and/or bluffing.
