Author Topic: Random Shit - Stupid Thread  (Read 7651 times)

Offline akauya

If you, like me, sometimes feel like discussing weird things, random ideas and shitposts that don't belong anywhere in particular and you don't necessarily want to start a whole new thread every time your brain goes into overdrive maybe you can post it here.

The best bit is that you will avoid the barrage of insults when you start a new thread and post something silly and others start having a go at you asking why did you start that stupid thread for...

Offline akauya

Does anyone else find it a little bit strange some members react to some other punter's review of a particular WG by saying something like "Oh, wow man, I'm so jealous you saw her."

I think, why jealous? All they have to do is gather the money and book her. Even if it takes them ages to save up, no need to feel jealous, it's not dating is it?  :unknown:

Or am I missing something?

Maybe.  WG could have stopped working, or was maybe only in that area for a brief time.

On the random stuff I sometimes think about, I don’t know why the clocks change twice a year but British Summer Time is 7 months and GMT only 5.  Didn’t really see why it wasn’t 6 months and 6 months.

That's a good point, I would understand that. But I have seen the 'jealous' posts when WGs are still active. But yes, there could be other several reasons a punter can no longer see a WG.

That's an interesting question, never thought about that.

Why does my toast always land jam side down if I drop it  :mad:

However you hold toast it will nearly always start to rotate as you lose your grip because it is not an immediate release.  It carries on rotating as it falls and the height it is dropped from is just enough for it to make a half turn in mid air before splatting on the floor.  To stop dropping the toast in the first place you need to develop a firm but gentle grip (you can practise on me if you like) or perhaps when you eat toast you should wear pornstar, killer high heels so you drop it from a greater height allowing it to make a full rotation in mid air.  :hi:

I'm enjoying this thread already.

When (or why) did the trend to write "women" when they mean "woman" started? I see it more and more on social media and even on UKP!

It's not only men who do it. I even saw a woman describing herself as "I am a women blah blah blah".

Women = plural
Woman = singular

Unless she was suffering from multiple personality disorder she is only 1 woman.

All to do with the earth's tilt on its axis and why we have more daylight hours in the summer but there has been discussions on another thread as to why we switch from GMT to Summer time.

I think it's called Sod's law that's the technical term for it. Why do cats always land on all fours and what would happen if you strapped some toast to its back butter side up how would it land then ? Butter side down or all fours still  :unknown:

That will not work as the Aboriginal people knew about it.

Same as the local people knew about Everest.

I always find it funny when people say Livingston found Victoria Falls, although the local people had never noticed it until he pointed it out.

Same goes for America (the continent) people still say Columbus "discovered" the "new world", completely ignoring people already lived there thousands of years before Europeans got there.

If ICE-powered car enthusiasts are referred to as petrolheads,  shouldn't people who are mad-keen on electric cars \(like some on here) be referred to as (kilo)watt-hourheads ?  Or even jouleheads.

Offline akauya

Things that have the wrong name:

The drive or driveway. It should be called the park or parkway - you park a car there not drive through it.

Tin foil - it's not tin. It's aluminium!

Birth control should be conception control. By the time you control the birth it's way too late.

Guinea pings. They are neither pigs nor from Guinea. They're rodents, a better name would be South American rats.
