Just a heads up, really nasty experience today.  I got there early as the hot weather had me feeling frisky and fancied a £20 tug job.  Upon going in I was aware of a black man (late 20's, stocky, shades on and playing on his phone).  He was to the left of the shop; leaning facing the door and had his phone out towards the door and seemed to be texting, I thought nothing more of it.  Went in, went downstairs, someone was the early bird as there was one girl available (larger and older) so I sat on the couch and was waiting for girl number 2 to finish up.  After 10 mins or so of waiting, I said I'd come back as the girl was obviously in it for the long haul and the other girl spoke no English so asking her 'how long' the other girl was going to be had proved pointless, all I got was "You wait you wait" as she pointed towards the couch.

I got up and left, upon exiting I hear a shout, "YO MY MAN".  I look round, it's the black geezer.  "Had a nice time did we" he said, I'm looking at him thinking what the fuck does this prick want, then it dawned on me; MAYBE HE WAS THE POLICE! He then pipes up, "I got you on camera, I'm putting it on Youtube unless you give me your wallet and phone!".  I'm being slow on the uptake, he is clearly trying to rob me but I'm not yet joining the dots.  "Sorry?" I said with what must have been a blank expression on my face.  "YOUR FUCKING WALLET AND YOUR PHONE".  The penny drops, it's busy, people walking past, a group of lads were coming towards us.  I shoved him hard in the chest which sent him backwards I then shouted "NO I DON'T WANT TO BY ANY CHILD PORN YOU SICK FUCK" and by then the group of lads were upon us both, I then said to the group "This (ashamedly used the N word) is trying to flog kiddy porn", he looked at the group that were annoyed and legged it.  We all went our separate ways.  My ring piece was twitching like a rabbits nose, I was scared. 

I'm not a racist, just heat of the moment stuff.  Please be careful out there, I am 11 stone and built like David Platt from Corrie and maybe he was only going for people with less physique than himself.  You would find it difficult to go to the Police and report it.  "So where did you just come from Sir, Oh I see like that is it...".

Just a heads up.  I panicked, I could have laughed at him and walked off, this however; is how my experience turned out.  Thought I'd mention it.

Them triads don’t fuck around. He may find himself bottom of a very large ocean wearing a concrete jacket! Obviously I’d have to wipe my arse beforehand.

It'd be a video of an anonymous bloke coming out of a high street shop.  It'd say nothing about what greg had been doing there and would have been very unblikely that anyone who knows greg would have seen it. 

Large black person would have been no richer and quite probably he would be traceable had greg had the stones to go to the police and report the extortion threat, (which, given the way he handled it on the street, isn't that much of a stretch).

Cudos to greg for his quick thinking and admirable response.  Do call the shop and report the incident greg, triads aside the shop can always call the police if it continues and they know about it.  The police don't want extortion on the streets of central brum, it's bad for their image when Trump mentions it in a speech.

Oh my god wtf!!!!!! You should've said to that thieving prick that blackmailing is against the law and, if you're trying to be a vigilante by filming me then you aint gonna get away with it, plus the police station is around the corner plus this street is full of cctv camera's and you aint got no proof of what I have been up so you have a bigger chance of getting arrested then me. Thanks all, I did report it to them.  I never went to the Police, the shop asked me not to.  I rang up to complain, I have a separate phone for punting as some places don't answer withheld numbers: AYS Stirchley blocks private/withheld numbers for instance so I rang with my punting number on display as always.  I rang and got the usual 'little English', I mentioned the word complaint and I get asked to hold on.  30 seconds later a lady who speaks perfect English answers the phone she has a slight Brummy accent and is a native speaker.  She asks me to summerise what the complaint is about and she then said did my phone accept withheld numbers as someone would call me shortly.  I explained it did and I waited for a call.

20 minutes later my phone rang, private number.  I answered it to a foreign man who spoke good English, he apologised and explained that this is an ongoing problem, he explained that this is the 2nd report of this today and he had some last week.  He explained that from tomorrow he will have measures in place to stop this happening again.  He said for my trouble he could offer me a free massage with a girl of my choice for the hour.  I declined, I didn't want to be known as that guy.  He seemed very polite, very apologetic and concerned for my being.  He was keen to keep the Police out of it as the premises are licenced (for what I am not sure) but all Police complaints are raised at the time of licence renewal he said.

Really that is that.  It won't stop me going back, I'll be weary though, I never asked what the countermeasures would be, the mind boggles!

The OP asserts he is not racist and l have  no idea if he is or not but under the circumstances and the threat he felt under l think it propably worked as part of the shock tactics needed at that time to avert  a much more violent situation that may have developed. As a one off l see no problem. The offender was hardly going to the police over the remark was he?

I do actually now understand what he was referring to though (as I've only just read the thread) but nonetheless, complaining about random mildly racist comments on a punting forum is just very odd.

I don't know and I think admin deliberately doesn't post the exact figures. Making more posts and particularly more reviews is very likely to be the best way forward. I imagine you're definitely on the right track and you have a good number of reviews for such a new member. I had 0 for about a year!

The post report section/moderation log (which also includes bannings and other administrative type things) is quite fun to read but it's not particularly useful (except very occasionally when you see what some people are trying to hide or claim - particularly WGs) so you're not really missing out.

the idiom calling a spade a spade isn't  offensive at all it's entirely dependant on who's using it and how
my problem with the N word is that it is perfectly acceptable for some people to use it and others not to *dependant on the colour of the person* ie it's alright for a coloured person to use it but not a white person which is in its self racist against white's.
if you want to proclaim it a racist term noone should use it. or you could do what the English did with the Term POM and just take it on as part of national pride.
but with the word making universal coverage within the medium of music we're just teaching people that it's only bad for certain people to use which is segregation :| and not a good posture to have
