While living in a Muslem country, I fasted for several days as an experiment and found it very gruelling. For me it was a pointless penance and Ramadan was always a miserable month during which Muslims became more and more argumentative with each other.  I did notice that many of the tea ladies who worked as ladies of the night also stopped both their daytime and evening jobs during this month so I suppose Muslims have this notion that sinning in Ramadan is worse. I find it a strange concept of repentance though and by way of comparison I can't envisage anyone asking as a Christian whether they should stop punting during Lent!

Guys in the religion is ways not allowed but people do it anyway. The reason for the drop in the fasting month that as part of the fast you give up food drink smoking and sex even if it's with your wife. It's no use punting of you have to go hungry and thirsty and then have a punt. Not all muslims fast and a lot of the ones who punt are not religious so probably wouldn't fast anyway
