Author Topic: Can you tell why you got a like on here?  (Read 1713 times)

I have noticed the inclusion of Likes on the forum. Which is inline with an another hobby forum I have. On that forum you cannot see who gave you them, but you can see the post you got them for.

I just wondered if there was a way to know what posts you got the likes for on here.

I may have missed something, so apologise if I have. Did do a quick search but could not find anythng.

I can't answer this but IMHO, it would be a bad idea.
Maybe it's because I'm an old fart but the amount of shit out there on social media, that is purely posted trying to chase likes and followers, just makes me a little sad. That somebody would measure their self worth by what some strangers on the internet think about what they choose to show of themselves (not even the whole person) kind of blows my mind. It's the same with FB "friends".
People brag about how many friends they have, but to me, unless I would answer the phone at 3am and drive an hour to pick you up if needed, and believe that you would do the same for me, then you are an aquaintance or a mate, not a friend. BTW I don't have many friends.  :unknown:

I have 4 likes ( thanks to the posters involved) but no like icon under my name. Who knows?     :unknown:

Yes you do. You just can't see it because you can't like yourself (not meant in an existential way).

I have noticed the inclusion of Likes on the forum.
Any reason for starting a thread relating to a forum issue in the 'General discussion of UK Escorts and Massage' section and not in the dedicated 'post forum issues here' one?   :unknown:

Never understood the reasons behind sites wanting it to be honest. I’ve seen similar on other forums but just don’t get it.
I mean how come a wonderfully sensitive, obviously intelligent bloke like me. Has a lot less likes than that opinionated old fart moderator from up North.  :D

You seem to have an issue with me so I'll give you a weeks break.

The UKP 'Likes' system is not post specific as it is on other forums. https://www.ukpunting.com/index.php?topic=366014.0

I tend to agree. Likes cost nothing - and generally that's what they mean.

As with everything on here and the internet, use it or don’t use it so long as it’s within the rules. If it means something to you then fine, if not then fine too.

I noticed that I have a few likes. Thank you to whoever but without meaning to be rude to those that have done that, I couldn’t care less. But if it makes someone happy to give likes or collect likes then so be it. Doesn’t harm me.

Make of them what you will but imo someone who attaches a big importance to them potentially concerns me due to their reasoning behind it. It could be used as a badge of honour for nefarious reasons, like review numbers….

I’ve hit the like button a few times completely accidentally (fat fingers on a small screen) and have no idea how to “unlike”. So what does that mean?

I agree with all that, and therefore don’t see the need to tick the like button.

This - 100% agreed :hi:

BTW - FB (me) does not use FB (that) or any other so called "social media" (unless UKP can be considered as such)

... or for posting a joke or commenting on the weather or calling someone else a prick or just for being buddies with someone else on here.

Like many others, I couldn't give a crap about a popularity contest; indeed, if there were a "dislike" button I'm sure I would have racked up a few.

That said, I do try to be helpful so, for the likes I have, I prefer to think that someone has acknowledged that I've posted something useful.

I think it's intended to encourage positive contribution.  Admins may be able to zero your likes score if you're being a twat.

Surprised I've not had mine reset to zero in that case!  :D

I didn't think it was an issue, just interested in the answer. If its the incorrect place I'll know for next time :)

Clearly, not - Doc has just hit his century.
I would say 'helpful or insightful' is closer to the mark.

Thanks my friend, great album, simple twist of fate, enough said. Furthermore, this thread ironically has seen me almost double my likes.

I quite 'like' the Likes system. It's a simple way of thanking someone without adding unnecessarily to a thread.

Offline simon07

I agree. I admire the guys who go out on a limb for TOFTT and put the effort to put their reviews on the site.
There are some very intelligent and empathic comments which i enjoy reading too  :hi:

I agree, but IMHO there is no need for anyone apart from the mods to be able to see what posts receive the likes or from whom.
