Turning a blind eye today does not make what was illegal yesterday lawful tomorrow and City Sauna (and the C4 programme producers) would be well advised to take that on board. They've rubbed the noses of many in the shit with that programme and raising the profile of an illegal business is very ill advised and I would say very bad for business.

I would also advise Jenni and Kath to make a very public announcement that they will NOT be appearing in any other programmes - especially Celebrity Big Brother (the part about celebrity status very much aside). Punters will be rightly horrified and greatly put off visiting any of the City Sauna ventures -  editorial control is going to be extremely limited in the Big Brother sense and punters will be naturally fearful of the saying 'loose lips sink ships'. If City want to stay afloat they need to get the stealth paint out and get back under the radar.
CH4 don't give a toss. Look at some of the shit they've put out "Benefits Street", "Gay Muslims" and "The undateables" - a load of bollocks.

With regards Jenni and Kath, City Sauna is a sinking ship. A dilapidated building, Lizzys (or Dollys) is a parlour that was never fit for purpose, too public, too near a sinkhole Muslim estate, and rough old buggers working there - Dollys did nothing to change that apart from changed the wallpaper and a few beds. City Sauna is a laughing stock amongst punters, why do you think half of the Sheffielders go to Leeds or Manchester for a fuck? Nobody has created an alternative to GFE in nearly 10 years.

In participating in this program Kath and Jenni have highlighted the fact that they are running a "successful" illegal business thats expanding. Sheffield City Council Licensing Department are going to be asked "Why did you issues an entertainment license and why didn't you revoke it after the first program was shown?" South Yorkshire Police will be asked similar questions. If as a result of embarrassing questions or pressure from politicians City Sauna gets raided will it end there or will they target other parlours? I think getting the stealth paint out and going under the radar is sound advice. I think ANY public statement from Kath and Jenni about CBB or anything else is a bad idea. They've said far too much publicly as it is.

If City Sauna have really been so naive as to not factor any of this stuff in before making the documentary then that's incredible. However i struggle to believe that. I imagine they've explored the benefits of the publicity vs the possibility of being shut down and decided the film would yield a positive expected value for the business. All publicity is good publicity after all right?

Only time will tell. As of this moment in time two of their most popular ladies have left since the second program was shown they both had axstring of regulars. South Yorkshire Police have issued a statement in the star warnkng ALL brothel owners about their actions.  If you read the thread on here the general consensus is that City Sauna is a run down hovel that employs ugly fat scanks like kirie who does bareback gangbangs. Is any of that "positive" publicity? I quite like city sauna I've had some decent punts there but I really don't like the idea of being there when it gets raided or being secretly filmed or photographed by a journalist looking for a story and plotting up outside. I'm fairly sure a good many of the regulars will feel the same way.99% of the women who work there didn't want to be filmed they are there to earn money.  At the first sign of any "official" scrutiny they will be gone. These documentaries have attracted the wrong kind of attention.  The program makers contacted a number of parlours and saunas in Sheffield only city agreed to take part. You say you can't believe they would be so naieve not to factor in the publicity effect. So if you were running an illegal business where the authorities were turning a blind eye would you go on national TV and advertise what you were doing?

This is spot on. The police are basically saying don't take the piss with that story that came out in the Star.

Only saw bits of this, but didn't look like they mentioned Dolly's. Because if Shity Sauna is licensed, Dolly's certainly isn't and that surely would have caused them problems with the council or syp

I think people are naive if they don't think management were "paid " to do this programme - I have no idea of their true motives other than the immediate prospect of the rewards of cash. I think sometimes we can look too deeply into the reasons for something happening such as allowing the cameras to go inside.

The simple and most obvious reason (as is usually the case) is the reality of why it was allowed to happen - "cash"

I'm obviously quite ignorant as I didn't know these places were licensed.  I just thought they were illegal and police left them alone.

In short, brothels are illegal and the licence City holds/(held) was to permit the showing of adult films. The licence did not give permission to trade as a brothel (or even a legit massage parlour - I believe that was deregulated a long time ago though some councils around the country do require licences to be obtained for massage and various other activities such as tattooing, piercing and also things like cafes etc).

Any parlour in Sheffield that shows adult films without a licence is contravening the local law. Thats why a lot stopped having TVs in the rooms - in the old days every parlour would have some grainy porn showing. Now if City thought the licence gave them the right to run a brothel they were mistaken.

Dollys is now closed due to a licensing breach with it being too close to residential housing, from what I have read it is a new build which caused it. If I'm down that way I will have a look.

It makes me wonder if that's why Prestige and Cameo closed.

I go past dollys regularly it seems to be closed certainly not referred to on City's website. There is a new building going up opposite student flats I think. Interesting to note its operated as a brothel for years in a residential block there are flats above it. The new build isnt occupied yet so no "residents" will have complained maybe the developer or Sheffield Council or South Yorkshire Police flexing their muscles in light of the tv program. Thing is if the authorities want to close a parlour they can do so easily.  If they shut one it opens the door for mps councillors and anyone with an axe to grind to push for more places to be closed. You only have to look at what happened in Leeds a few years ago to see what a bad idea closing parlours down turned out to be BUT when you have Kath and Jenni (whatever their motivation) going on tv sticking two fingers up to the council and the police its not good for anyone who operates works in or visits as a client.

Great post. I wasn't sure what the new building was or where it is. Student flats would figure. The whole are is a dive to be honest, so I welcome a new build. You're 1000% right on the police, I'm sure I read a parlour in Manchester was closed because there was no fire exits, it's easier to get them on things like that than on immoral earnings. Prestige had some girls from City working there, so I wonder if they owned it, being near a post sorting office must have been a factor in it closing.

Offline munterhunter

Actually it's not that hard to get them for running a brothel.  If they have more than one girl offering sexual services its game over.  They will look for used condoms in bins any evidence of money changing hands so things like door fees lists of who has gone upstairs with a client. If they close a parlour under those circumstances then it sets a precedent. If they can shut it down on technicalities like fire safety or residents objections they are not admitting "We've closed it because it is a brothel" so they can "allow" more discrete establishments to stay in business. I think the TV program has moved the goal posts somewhat only time will tell how it all ends up.

Just a quick question please:

I sometimes work in Sheffield and usually go to Paradice (always told City Sauna was a dump) and after watching the programme I think the "dump" opinion was correct.

However I thought the oriental girl in the programme looked really nice. Does anyone know her name and if she still works there & if not does she now work elsewhere ?

Thanks

After the warning from South Yorkshire Police in the Star a couple of weeks ago this "inspection" isn't really a surprise.  At least City Sauna used the time to edit their website remove references to Dollys the glory hole and all the ladies feedback.  Not sure what the multi agency reference is about. A friend of mine used to work as receptionist at a parlour in Leeds that was closed down. They got a visit from police with a drugs dog immigration benefits agency hmrc. Sauna got shut down on the spot owners interviewed and charged a couple of the women done for benefit fraud and my friend given a written warning for not declaring her wages. She wasn't earning enough to have to pay any tax but still should have declared the money.
Hopefully the inspection at city will be the end of this sorry episode.  We will have to see what these ongoing enquiries reveal but from what was said on tv and what the inspectors would have seen on their visit there's enough evidence of brothel keeping. Since the tv program dollys has closed so they've lost the revenue from that a number of the women who worked at city have left and they've had South Yorkshire Police looking at their business. If they shut city and bring charges then that opens the door for action against all the other parlours and I'm sure SYP really want to go down that route.  I hope the message here is run your business but do it discretely and we will leave you alone.
We will have to see what happens in the next few weeks.

I've spoken to two parlour owners since the documentary aired. They're as you would expect, pretty livid at City for bringing so much attention to the area which is understandable as the retards responsible clearly didn't think things through.

Although the other establishments have not been visited by SYPD they have been seen strategically parking two vehicles at a time so that they can see who is entering premises and have been doing this every few days. Just thought you guts would like to know.

P.S I meant to post this ages ago. Using a campervan would obviously be illegal, but Kirrie is known to do this. The TV production company obviously picked a few people from AW to pose as City Sauna employees and almost certainly will have got the campervan idea from her and so just used the idea in their script.

I agree. Did you see External Link/Members Only the camper van thing happened in that as well.

Its quite understandable that the other parlour owners are going to be livid who wouldn't be.  You really have to be a special kind of stupid to run a business that is illegal in an area where the police choose to turn a blind eye and let you get on with living off immoral earnings then go on tv and broadcast to the nation just how well you're doing.
Well if you look at the situation now.
Dollys closed. They have had workmen in converting it back to a flat. If they put it up for sale they have to tell potential buyers about its history as part of the disclosure process. If they don't and it comes to light the buyers can sue. Who would want to buy the place? Maybe they should give the tv people a call maybe they will buy it ;)
If they rent it imagine the tennant cooking a nice Sunday roast a knock on the door and a customer asking for the 30 quid special!! Whatever they paid for Dollys they'll have a hard time getting rid of it I think.
City Sauna
When the program went on tv they had 15 women on the website and were making decent money.
Today they have 4 plus two more on the rota who aren't on the website. I was in there about a month ago there were 4 women working it was 1:30pm and since opening they'd had 4 customers in! Two of the girls in that day were on the sofa phones out discussing whether they were going to go work in Manchester or Leicester neither of them are there now!
I was having a coffee deciding who I was going to have a half hour with when the receptionist came over and said "Kath has just phoned me she logged into the cameras and wants you to leave she says she has her reasons and you can call in to see her about it if you want" apparently her reasons are she doesn't like what I've said on here.Well I haven't said anything I believe to be a lie most is what the women who worked there said to me and each other. I left I don't need to discuss it with Kath she couldn't have spoken to me on the phone that day instead of embarrassing her recptionist who I know. I left I won't go back there are no shortage of options if I choose to punt elsewhere I'm assuming a number of other regular customers may also vote with their feet
It certainly looks like most of the girls have done the same.
By the looks of things South Yorkshire Police don't need to shut them down they seem to be doing a good job of that  on their own.  I think and hope the parlour owners of Sheffield can now breathe a sigh of relief and hope things will return to business as usual.  I also think they might look at city now crack a rueful smile and think "that's poetic justice" me..I always liked city and how it was run I've had some cracking punts there so their current situation gives me nothing to smile about but they are in the situation because of their choices and life goes on.

Not sure where steff went I think she moved on a couple of months ago. Ibsaw her once  and had a good time. She seemed to have a good number of regulars who used to see her at City.
