Discreet - a film about an escort and a client

I recently watched a South African film about a unworldly and awkward young man called Thomas who visits Monique, a beautiful escort. There is little 'action' in the film as they spend the entire appointment talking. Ostensibly Thomas wants Monique to tell him about sex but gradually their defences come down and both of them reveal more about their real characters and their sensitivity about failed past relationships etc. I found it intriguing that although they seem to be laying the foundation for some kind of friendship (complete with insults, arguments and the telling of secrets) the constraints of a escort/client remain. This is reinforced by a twist at the end of the film when Thomas returns to her apartment. She's vulnerable but far from wanting the white knight offer that Thomas seems to represent. It left me so intrigued that I've booked a lunch date with an escort, which I can't even explain to myself.

Does anyone else have a favourite film about prostitution?

There is a tv series in America called the Girl friend experience, it about students studying law and got apprenticeship in a law firm, and got to introduce to be come an escort by her friend.
Very good series, they have started episodes two.

Of course, cynicism does creep in as in Shaw's Mrs Warren's Profession. As far as I can tell, no writer has attempted to portray prostitution in a favourable light but were any of them punters or WGs?

Yes, I do intend to post a sort of review on here near the beginning of August. It seems only fair to share information as ukpunting has already saved me from a couple of possible disasters. We've agreed on a venue and I've submitted a booking request on AW. She seems a little cautious and I haven't spoken to her on the phone yet. One other woman wanted me to send a photo before meeting which I immediately felt uneasy about, but I'm glad she did for the lady I'm meeting in Brum looks to be a cutie.

OP - may I ask if you see this strictly as a dinner date or are you open to the idea that it might lead further. If, for example, you edge your question about movies into the conversation and she replies that she prefers first hand experience over watching movies.

I would have no interest if he bothered to take the time to report back here about such an experience, if she's a WG post a link, other members might be able to tell you if they've seen her & help you out - but your asking about our favourite films about prostitution !! 

The movie "Discreet" 2008 funnily enough has a plot synopsis that reads :

"Young geek, socially out of depth in the 'man's world' of his job where he is successful, seeks to put his sheltered religious upbringing behind him by belatedly losing his virginity using a 'discreet' prostitute. His sexual naivety, and immature questioning, turn the cynical beautiful prostitute round to breaking her rule (no kissing with mouths)."

Your seriously trying to suggest you might be the character in this film trying to re-enact some sort of delusional fantasy in your own mind ??!! Dear Lord !
