Big fight tonight

Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannous.

Strangely it's on a Friday night so don't get caught out by this. Ring walks expected around 11pm... so guess that means 12.30am if last few fights anything to go by!!

Personally i hope Ngannou destroys him but looking forward to it!
Is on tonight because the f1 is on tomorrow instead of Sunday,  due to Ramadan starting on Sunday.

Yes you're probably right - will be weird watching a big boxing match on a Friday night!

Fridge now stocked with beers and fruity ciders lol

Offline ohsnap

looking foward to tonight - haven't a clue what way it will go.

I think Fury vastly underestimated him last time so clearly AJ won't make that mistake but how that pans out tonight I have no idea!

hopefully its a good fight with an AJ win. Then just need Fury to beat Uysk (i'm not sure) then we may finally see AJ v Fury - although like mayweather v pacq feel like its too late to be a peak fight now

Offline berksboy

Well AJ showed what a top class boxer should do against a MMA guy.Makes greedy bellys effort look even worse.

After this morings result does beg the question what the fuck was Fury doing back in October?..

Yes, Ngannou looked like the complete novice he is.

He is also 38 in September. Most fighters retire well before then. Those that don't tend to be in financial difficulties.

Online badsin

I haven't seen the fight yet. As stated above thus does seem to show Tyson Fury up.
I still can't see TF ever facing AJ, whatever the outcome of the usyk fight.

So after all the idiotic and embarrassing build up the Haney V Garcia fight was pretty good . But yet again we had one judge who can not see , how the hell he come up with a draw i dont know.

Offline Problem Child

Agreed , absolutely crazy scoring that a draw?! 🤷‍♂️

Haney does seem to be one of those fighters that judges seem to favour..
Thought Garcia was gonna get owned, but have to hand it to him, his speed and power were impressive.

Offline berksboy

Think the referee must be a mate as well ,missing a few KDs and letting Haney hug away all night.I think Garcia will go up to welterweight and Haney will try and make one more defence before he moves up as well

Offline Problem Child

If they both move up, hopefully we’ll get a rematch, see how much of a difference that 3.25lbs made..

Inoue’s next fight is coming up on Monday 6th May. His fights are on at weird times (11amish) and days (Monday/Tuesday) for us, but he’s kind enough to fight on a bank holiday again 🙃 - last one was Boxing Day.. 🥊

External Link/Members Only

He doesn’t weigh much, but he gets every gram of his weight into those power punches.

I'm hoping Inoue smokes Nery .
Nery is not a popular figure in Japan and that's putting it lightly.
Only issue seems to be finding suitable opponents without going up by significant amounts in weight.
I see ridiculous calls for him to fight Davis who's currently at 135 but I don't see anyone under 130 living with him .
Looking forward to Beterbiev -Bivol.
That should be a real battle of styles.

Offline theeaglekid

The boxing schedule this year is probably the best I have ever seen, and that is mainly due to the Saudis

It’s pretty much a full stone in weight between Inoue and Davis which is ridiculous. Don’t know how much more weight Inoue could conceivably gain and still be effective, but you would think 130 would be doable.. and if Tank  can drop from 134 then…
Tbh I never really rated Tank or Garcia for that matter. Thought that given the chance Shakur Stevenson would absolutely wipe the floor with them.
Just like I thought  Loma would destroy Haney and was certain that Haney would decimate Garcia 🙈😂

Btw imo Bivol is a cert for that fight, so guess how that one’s going to end..

Offline Problem Child

It’s the weigh in tomorrow for Inoue Nery, hopefully Nery makes weight…🤞🤞

Offline berksboy

So looking like Garcia was on PEDs as well as over weight , what a shit show.

Offline mills_and_bhuna

Inoue puts on another masterclass and still undisputed knocking out Nery in 6.
Nery had clearly done his homework and was not going to come out all guns blazing.
He was in top condition and took a few shots but I think the writing was on the wall from around Round 3

Offline Problem Child

Agreed m&b great performance and what a fight.

Dunno wtf Inoue was thinking in that first round. Clearly massively underestimated Nery, trading with him with their front feet in that position was always gonna go Nerys way. What a punch tho, felled Inoue like a fucking tree..

Have to say that 2nd knock down by Inoue was incredible . To be able to have the balance to get that left hook on target while on the back foot is almost superhuman. He actually tried it a couple of times in R1 too, but whiffed both times.

Bring on the tank!!! lol

The Tank talk is a load of shite.
Basically it's American casual fight fans unable to cope with the idea that p4p no. 1 might be..... Not an American.
Tank has been at 135 for years. Hardly moved.
Inoue started at 108 and now cleaned out 122.
No mention of Tank going up to fight Crawford.
The problem is American fight fans in general don't have the attention span to sit back and appreciate the precision and timing that he displays.
He's just awesome to watch.
It's like he spends a couple of rounds analysing patterns, and then trying ways to draw them in and then... Bang!

I must admit, I do enjoy arguing with the septics about the p4p bullshit. I think a lot of them can’t get their heads around the fact that not only is the best fighter in the world right now not American, he actually has the audacity to stay in his own country and fight there, rather than making it *big* in Vegas . 🤷‍♂️ 😁

Looking forward to Usyk v Fury.
Definitely the top 2 heavyweights right now in terms of boxing prowess.
Fury looking like a lean, mean fighting machine so the Ngannou debacle clearly forced him to face reality.
His dad is still a dickhead though.
And Usyk is just the usual Usyk.
One in the P4l conversation.

Everyone in the mainstream media is saying the same thing but looking in the comments of the YouTube live of the open training session they were going on about his spare tyre. I have to agree.

Usyk coming in nearly a stone heavier than his last 2 fights.

That will slow him down.

I very hope so
The boxing fraternity & most importantly including the judges just couldnt bring themeslves to let Ngannou win

As for Fury sustaining a cut in sparring
Like a deliberate one coz his camp knew he was well off what was needed
Usyk will target the cut lets hope it opens up

You gotta admire Fury & his team in their marketing, gypsy king bollox
They seem to be able to wash over what gypos are all about roaming the country causing havoc

If it wasnt for the fact that he's 6'9" he wouldn't have got very far
There arent many boxers who can physically match his reach

IMO Iron Mike in his prime would batter the shit out of Fury despite being the best part of a foot shorter
It would be over before it began

Apparently he came in at 223lb. Buffer incorrectly announced 233lb.

Offline berksboy

Rack is right , from the boxing site i read

Oleksandr Usyk’s correct weight for Friday’s weigh-in is 223 1/2 lbs, not the 233.5 lbs that the announcer incorrectly revealed for his fight against Tyson Fury on Saturday night in Riyadh. The 233-lb weight gain announced initially surprised fans, as IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Usyk had gained 12 lbs from his fight against Daniel Dubois last August in Poland. That’s a big jump up in weight for a fighter who looked as toned as Usyk did today.

Wow. Racist or what?
I don't think you have a clue about boxing.
Being 2 or 3 inches taller than your opponents is not the advantage you seem to think it is at that level.
And Mike Tyson in his prime would probably beat any heavyweight in history.
So what?
I still think Usyk will win.
Doesn't tarnish Fury's achievements though.

Fury already wanting the rematch clause implemented after his loss in Saudi.

Whatever happens (and it will) he should bow out afterwards….. take the purse and leave.

Congrats to Usyk.
Should have been unanimous though.
I don't know what that judge who had Fury winning by a point was smoking .
Given that the referee had Usyk only winning by a point I'd say he was crooked too.
I don't know why boxing allows this.
It was a pretty good fight.
The stink of corruption tarnishes it .
I had it 117-110 Usyk but I could see 115-112 at a stretch.

Well at least its a moral booster for all those opressed in Ukraine!

But it was only a few points on a judges decision that swung the result, its not like it was Uysk who floored Fury out for the count after round three!

But it was true to form many have said that uysk is at his best in the later rounds and i think that was the case..

And he did do some damage to fury putting him on his arse, but perhaps fury had to learn that if he's to get the better of him he needs to give his all early which i think at one point he could have done but didnt follow it up as he should have done. Perhapos now Fury has got the measure of Uysk seeings they've never met before..

Still impressive how they respected each other and have it seems agreed to a rematch, now that would be great to see..

And at Wembly in the UK at least!
