Author Topic: “Available Today” Green Light on Adultwork - What’s the point ?!  (Read 2490 times)

Offline Hallon

Tried to book a punt earlier today, at 12.00 midday, for a punt between 7 PM - 9 PM tonight, using Adultwork ( “AW” )

Searched availability on “AW” using the “Available Today” green light at the top of WG profiles.

Tried to make a booking, and was told that the WG in question wasn’t free tonight.

Had the same response to Plan B

So, what really is the point of the “Available today” green light, and why don’t WGs turn it off if they are fully booked ?

Also, are there any alternatives to “AW” ?

Thanks In Advance,

Hallon

Offline DastardlyDick

I believe AW charge SPs extra to have the "Available Today" light per day, so I guess the girls think 'I've paid for it, so I'll get my money's worth', and if they get a no-show, or a punter cancels, there's a chance of getting someone else.

The alternative, of course, is that the dippy mares just forget to switch it off!

AFAIK, for all it's faults, there is no alternative to AW.

As DD said, they are motivated to turn it off since they pay for it.  It is a sometimes useful feature.

Not saying any alternatives are better but here is a list of alternatives.

An escort told me recently it costs £7 a day to show up green/available today. I had called her even though she wasn't green and got a booking, she brought it up herself at some point during the punt. She was ranting that some days even though she's green she gets no calls and other days when she isn't she may still get some nonetheless. Normally I only call the green ones, I don't have time to try my luck calling a dozen or so girls before I find one a) working that day and b)available

Offline Dipper

I think it’s a very useful feature.

Chances are you’re more likely to get a response and get the required punt if they’re showing as “available today”. In my experience.

As above, it costs £6 credits to put Available Today on, and if we switch it off because of a cancellation it would cost another £6 to put back on. So I personally leave it on until I'm done, regardless of if I'm fully booked or not.

If it were to tie in with the working hours calendar somehow that could be helpful for when you're looking for a booking at a certain time.

I've been looking at the mobile site and find the local featured escorts get more prominence so it could be ladies start using that feature instead as it's also cheaper at £1.80 per location

normaly I try to arrange something in advance but sometimes I check who is "Available Today" but the WG who use it most seem to be eastern europeans who I tend to avoid

Thanks for all of the replies, especially Lizzie’s above.

Maybe AW need to set up a ‘traffic light’ system - Service Provider pays the £6 to turn on the “Available Today” feature, and, if she becomes fully boooked, she can switch the green “Available Today” to a red “fully booked” AT NO EXTRA COST.

If a punter cancels, the SP should be able to switch back to “Available Today” again, also free of charge.

I also think £6 a day is an extortionate charge. I can understand a minimal charge, say £15 - £30 a month, but £6 a day is daylight robbery IMO !

Haven't had much experience with AW have you? all they care about is money they couldn't give a shit about the service they provide. They aren't going to give anything away, in fact they're more likely to steal. If a prossie breaks the rules they close the account and keep any credits.

It's usually right.

A lot only put it on when they're available I've found.

Like everything else with AW a waste of time.

This really winds me up. Recently whilst working in Nottingham I tried to book (in advance) a couple of girls. Both told me that they were ‘ill’ not doing meets, but we’re happy to ‘cam’ with me. When I asked how do you know you will be unwell in the future neither replied.

I always understood the green light means ‘working today’ rather than actually free today.

That would be a good idea but as DavieMac says, AW are in it for the profit so if they were to make a concession it would probably be something like £6 per day, £4 to switch it back on within that day rather than for free.

Tbh, I used to pay about £15 per day advertising on AW (Available today, display phone number & top of the listing in 3 local areas) and most of the time I get a good amount of work from it, but lately I'm not seeing an increase of hits on my profile after paying for the green light.

AW are unlikely to introduce a standard monthly charge IMO, as I think what attracts girls to the site is that they don't need to pay anything to use AW, so the newbies and part timers can turn a quick profit.

Totally disagree -------------- the average pro$$ie charges £100-£150 an hour, three one hour bookings at £120 would earn her £360, the £6 fee is quite reasonable, anyway a lot of girls have a private gallery that pays for "available today".    :hi:

Adultwork is a business not a WG charity.   :hi:

This is a pay for service?

Yep, it's only £1.20 per day so it's hardly breaking the bank, especially as most of my bookings are made by phone, JRC is quite right in that a 1 hour booking pays for itself a hundredfold if it yields just 1 hour long booking.

And if it's money paid by PG views (rather than money paid into AW by the WG) so much the better as the cost and time frame of withdrawing AW credits is a bigger rip off IMO

TBH, I've never counted them on my tax returns unless I'm paying in to AW

If it's credit from PG sales (virtual currency) I didn't think it counted unless withdrawn but that's something I'll definitely look into, thanks for the heads up  :hi:

If you earn anything from your private gallery (after fees) then that would be taxable, I am sure your accountant has pointed that out.  :hi:

I do my own bookkeeping as I've had experience with Sage software in a previous job, but AW credits hadn't occurred to me.

I've done a quick calculation and I owe about £60 over the last 2 years, but I'll get that double checked lol

It's funny how people think about money.
A WG earning over $100 an hour objects at paying 6 to advertise her business.
But us punters are the same. We happily pay over 100 for a pint but object to the 3 quid parking fee.  :unknown:

On a separate note I do wish that WG's would keep the availability diary up to date.
If I see one with available 24 he's I know it's not been updated but one with sensible hours advertised then I think This one is being sensible about it.
And free advertising.

Actually, that's incorrect. It doesn't cost more to put it back on the same day.

Available today doesn't mean she has to be available all day.
She could have been available, just not at the time you wanted.

That's because like Taxi drivers and other trades they don't see it as a business, they receive cash and regard it as theirs 100% no Tax, no expenses, straight in the pocket and move on  :hi:

I couldn't agree more. In my area of search there is just one SP out of about a hundred as far as I can make out who keeps har availability diary spot-on correct and up to date. . So she doesn't need to pay for and show the green light. (Interestingly she happens to top the list with over a thousand positive feedbacks !)

She is so prompt in her actions that this week I agreed a booking with her by text and shortly afterwards was not allowed to register it on AW because she was 'not available at this time' !

Another annoyance is that some WGs will put the “Available today” light on just to indicate they might be working sometime that day . More than once I have seen AT lit and thought goody I fancy a morning punt but find the girl has not turned up in my town and will only book in to the hotel at 2:30-and then she is often delayed by traffic on the way. So your desired morning punt turns into a late afternoon one-so instead of being set up for the day you are left a bit in limbo.

Available today doesn't necessarily mean available all day.
Why shouldn't she put 'available today' if she's available that day?

By the way, most hotels have a check-in time of 14:00 or 15:00.
