That style of photo is required as part of the AW verification procedure for EEs. But it's unusual for it to be used on the profile.

1.  Picture of you holding a recent British newspaper with publication date clearly visible
2.  Picture of you holding the same British newspaper beside a post box or telephone box/cabin near to where you actually live

They make some non British nationals post face pics on their profile, particularly if they think they come from a dodgy country or the profile it's self's dodgy. If they don't do it they delete the profile.
