Author Topic: Photo file names : useful info or not?  (Read 713 times)

Offline Cumberland

In an SPs photo gallery each frame has a file name. The diligent ones change the file name to something useful or encouraging but most are too dumb or lazy and just leave the default file name, such as IMG-20171208-WA0005.jpg

So is this buried date '20171208' when it was taken (ie 8th December 2017)? If so this gives useful information on the relevance of the photo. If not i will stop taking note in future.

Anyone know?
Thanks

Even if there is a date code in the file name, Sergei will soon be editting the filenames to fool you.

Better is to find an EXIF Data reader.

occasionally you'll see a filename like 8276549286547_8735924666284n.jpg , so you know thats lifted from facebook , or 7f3f0951-98ed-453e-8641-a45bb09ec7a1.jpg , from SA , 14740582541751262095_large.jpg from twitter , gives you a hint at where else to look for profiles or pics if your keen to search

They help a lot

You see a lot of ‘received’ lurking about

Very true, easy enough to make the photo look new than it is

I checked an AW pic via
External Link/Members Only
and it seems that AW is removing all EXIF data from the pictures

I posted a tread on this a month ago and got very limited replies.

My particular focus was if there was any rhyme or reason to verification picture names, and any thoughts about a protocol for saving these to make it easier to link these to the profile at a later time.

I now “farm” these daily in my location and have a large collection but without a catelogue.  As UKP has become more image friendly I am interested to learn what I can about managing these.

If the prossie is named in the verification reports on UKP, surely it comes up in a search of her name? At which point you could add the URL to your “notes” file on her in the drop down box on AW.

To do that you do have to hotlist her; so the easiest way would be to create a hotlist called “no fucking way” to put the mingers in.
